The Vehicle of Faith by James Earle, Sr.

FAITH is the vehicle by which positive thoughts are put into action.

DOUBT is the vehicle by which negative thoughts are put into action.

A sincere faith will cause good things to happen. Does that mean that if I have strong faith I can move mountains? No probably not. Few people's faith is that strong. However, it does mean that you can cause good things to happen to the limit of your faith. And the wise man will allow his faith to grow.

Today, lets look at some key verses about faith.

" Jesus looked her in the eye. "Didn't I tell you that if you believed, you would see the glory of God?" John 11:40

"Behold ye among the heathen, and regard, and wonder marvelously: for I will work a work in your days, which ye will not believe, though it be told you." Habakkuk 1:5

"But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed." James 1:6

"Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil." Proverbs 3: 5,6

"Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass." Psalms 37:5

"Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him." Psalms 37:7

"Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation." Isaiah 12:2

"That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." Romans 10:9,10

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16

Obedience and Vision by Laurie McTier

"Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee: And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:" Genesis 12:1, 2

As we read about Abraham and Sarah in the Old Testament, we are given a vivid picture of a man and woman of great faith. Abraham and Sarah walked with God, they yearned to please Him, and they wanted to follow His directive hand.

As I read the Abrahamic Covenant that God made with Abraham thousands of years ago, I am reminded of many key factors that are vital to our Christian walk.

1. Immediate Obedience. When God told Abraham to get out of the country, he immediately assembled his family and he obeyed God's voice. Abraham did not know which direction he was headed, he acted in obedience and faith that God would lead the way.

2. Vision. Abraham and Sarah were willing to take risks. They incorporated faith with vision. As they sought God, He directed and anointed their steps, He became their shield and defender. Through their needs, God revealed Himself and expanded their vision and relationship with Him.

3. Inheritance. As Abraham and Sarah served God, God began to give them the desires of their heart. God promised them that their seed would be equal to the number of the stars in the sky. God told Abraham to claim his territory. His riches and his inheritance were equal to all of the land that He saw in the horizon. Abraham had a God given vision and inheritance.

4. Blessing. God made them a promise that they would be blessed and that they would be a blessing. They touched many people in their lifetime and throughout history. Our life can do just the same. God wants us to serve Him and He wants to empower us so that our life can be a blessing to someone each and everyday.

Daily Prayer Focus: Lord, increase my faith today. I pray that I will be sensitive to your directive hand and constantly reminded of the blessings you have given to me.

Life In This Generation by Keith Cook

"Since no man knows the future, who can tell him what is to come?" Ecclesiastes 8:7

As we look around our modern culture we see several trends and patterns evolving.

1. Family Life is being tested and targeted. Educational institutions see parents as being a source of income for education, not partners in education. To marketing giants, adults and those who live responsible lives, are seen as being out of step and out of touch with modern life and culture. Media portrays our children and teenagers as possessing all of the knowledge and mental development that they need in order to make all of life's decisions for themselves. Their bodies, lifestyles, future, and well-being depends on their having the right to make decisions independent from their parents.

2. Civil unrest and uneasiness is rampant. Terrorists, gangs, drug dealers, addicts, criminals, protesters, media outlets, snipers, and internet chat-rooms all point to a brooding and explosive civil situation. Sin is running rampant, sin is running lives! Sin is running our society! Sin is also ruining lives! Sin is ruining our society!

3. Political turmoil is everywhere. Countries who were once allies are now at opposite sides of conflicts. Leaders are fighting economic, military, and popularity battles daily. Polls, public opinions, and political correctness all rule the day.

4. People are still open to the supernatural and spiritual. This is great news for those of us who know Christ! We have a great avenue to introduce the proper solutions to societies ills. We can introduce God's principles into family life, civil life, and political life. We can take Jesus out into our culture. It may be hard and it may be risky, but we can get an audience.

With this opportunity comes great responsibility. If we offer solutions and direction we had better be sure we are being guided by the Spirit of God, and not just religious culture. We had better be speaking the truth in love. We had better speak to all the needs of man and not just all the needs of the church.

We must direct our efforts to taking the whole Gospel to the whole man. Jesus came to earth, He lived, died, and rose again. He offers and provides life and peace for all who come to Him and follow Him.

Life in this generation is not any different from the past. The only difference is that this is our generation. We must serve it well.

Set Up By God by Keith Cook

"This is what Hezekiah did throughout Judah, doing what was good and right and faithful before the LORD his God. In everything that he undertook in the service of God's temple and in obedience to the law and the commands, he sought his God and worked wholeheartedly. And so he prospered." 2 Chronicles 31:20,21

There are three words that represent how God has set up every believer for success and fulfillment. Believers down through the ages have all had the same opportunities for greatness and servanthood. Our Lord wants us to know that we are privileged, held responsible, and have a great capacity to serve.

1. Privileged - Every Christian is privileged to have a life in Christ. It is a glorious thing to be called "Christ Like" and it is even more of a privilege to have the opportunity to get to know Christ better each day through our times of devotion and walking in the light of His revealed will.

2. Responsible - Every child of God has a God given responsibility to do the work of the kingdom and to be ambassadors and servants of Jesus Christ. We must do the work of the evangelist. We must take up the cross of Jesus as our own. The cup of cold water and the gifts of compassion must be shared.

3. Capacity - Once a person comes to Christ their capacity for good and their resources for service are expanded. This happens by the filling of the Holy Spirit. The Word of God says that each day we can be filled to overflowing, our filling will result in boldness, and our boldness will result in decisions for Christ.

Today you and I are privileged, held responsible, and have a great capacity to do God's will. Oh that we could live up to those three words and see lives changed because of our witness and the power of God's Holy Spirit ministering through us!

Daily Prayer Focus: Praise God for the opportunity to be privileged, to be held responsible, and the great capacity to serve.

The GoGospel by Keith Cook

"And Jesus said to him, "Go; your faith has made you well." Immediately he regained his sight and began following Him on the road." Mark 10:52

In the book of Mark over 40 times the expression "straightway or immediately" is used. Mark is a real action oriented book of the Bible. Mark was writing, under the direction of the Holy Spirit, to the Roman thinker, or culture. In the book of Matthew Jesus is portrayed speaking and suffering, but Mark highlights Jesus actions and power.

Jesus is shown by Mark as being Mightier than the mightiest human (John the Baptist). Jesus identified with the culture but also defeated the cultural norms. Nothing could hold him back or slow Him down in doing God's will - not nature, not culture, not demons, nothing!

He was baptized by the Holy Spirit. He had supernatural energy. He had the power to defeat hell, death, and the grave. His human body was not bound by the limits of a mortal body because it was full also of the Holy Spirit. No sin, no worldly nature, no penalty of disobedience, just a real live Spirit Man!

Not only was Jesus mighty in power and baptized in the Spirit, He also constantly pleased the Father and was led by the Spirit. He never acted independent from His father or walked in His own strength.

What about you?

1. You need to immediately follow Christ. Whatever He is leading you to do - you must do! Do not hesitate to answer His call and leading.

2. Make sure you are pleasing God in every area of your life. Do not leave any part of your life out of God's care and protection. Give Him the secret things, the personal places, the fear infested domains. He can heal, forgive, lead, and provide for everything in your life.

3. Make sure you are willing to be led of the Spirit. You can not make your journey of faith alone or in your own strength. You need Supernatural direction and help. Jesus will lead you and take you down many paths you do not know or are prepared for - yet He will use you and make you into a Spiritual force that honors and glorifies the Father.

You can immediately be used of God if you will immediately begin to follow Him, please Him, and be lead by Him.

Daily Prayer Focus: Search My Heart, O God. Open my eyes, my ears, and my heart to ways I can follow You, please You, and be led by You.

On The Go Prayer Focus: The Finances of Team as they boldly go out for Jesus Christ. Pray that all their needs will be met at home and for the projects they are working on.

A Good Leader by Keith Cook

"To the saints and faithful brethren in Christ which are at Colosse: Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. We give thanks to God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you,"
Colossians 1:2,3

Since coming to know Christ in my teenage years, God has blessed me with spiritual leaders and mentors in my Christian walk and ministry. Through their great example I have learned the importance of having a good leader to help you as you grow in life and ministry. It is my desire to serve my Lord as a Spirit led evangelist and spiritual leader for future generations.

In Colossians, chapter one, Paul gives us seven characteristics of a spiritual leader.

1. A spiritual leader Identifies You. He (she) knows where you are in your walk with God (verse 2). He should be able to call you a Saint because he sees your position in Christ. He also desires to call you a faithful brother or sister in Christ because of your activities for Christ. He should even be able to locate you. He also knows where you live. In other words your life is public and transparent.

In identifying with you he knows your situation, obstacles and opportunities.

In identifying with you he sees your present reality and future potential.

In identifying with you he connects with every area of your life, not just the spiritual aspect.

2. A spiritual leader Blesses You with Grace and Peace. He helps bring the presence of God clearer and more powerful into your life. Avoid leaders who do not make you feel blessed or at peace. Uneasy feelings and numerous nagging questions about someone's leadership are often God's warning signs to find another mentor or leader. True peace comes by being under the leadership of a real Godly leader. You see the love of God reflecting in every area of their lives as they bring into focus a real and living Christ.

3. A spiritual leader Gives Thanks For You (verse 3). He appreciates you and values you in the work of God's Kingdom. A Godly and Good Leader knows of your faith in Christ and is grateful to God for you and thankful to you for living for Christ. If you wonder how he can know if you are a person of true faith and vision I can assure you that he can! If you are living a life worthy of thanks, you do not have to tell him; nor, if you are not living in victory you cannot fool him. A good leader is associated with the real thing so often that he can tell the fake from the genuine. Give a good leader reason to give thanks for you. Be real. Do the work of the Kingdom. Seek His Kingdom first!

He also knows of Your Love for (All) Saints. How can he know this? Your actions will show this! You cannot be a lover of all and not give and bless others. You have been blessed to be a blessing. If your life is a blessing to others then others will be thankful for you and will actually show their appreciation. Their showing of appreciation will give you great joy but even if no outward appreciation is given, you are to live your life for Jesus and others and not fall into the trap of living you life for fame or recognition.

4. A spiritual leader Prays For You. He is always praying for you and bringing your needs to God. Good leaders do not depend on their own ability to direct those in whom they are mentoring. They know it is a God thing. They understand that spiritual work takes spiritual resources. You cannot get spiritual giftedness by human efforts or education. Prayer opens doors, brings power, shows directions, and calms fears. Asking for and receiving prayer is not a sign of weakness but of dependence. Having someone praying for you does not mean that they see you as being less of a Christian but that they know what it really takes to rise to greatness. Great leaders see that you have so much potential and do not want to see you miss out on what God has for you. Therefore they pray for you, about you, and with you.

5. A spiritual leader Encourages You (verse 4). Good leaders always seem to get to know good prospects for greatness and service. Good leaders look for opportunities to help those who are coming up in the service of the Lord. They do not feel threatened or jealous. Many good leaders encourage you with their words, while others help you by their example. Often I have been helped by a Godly leader giving me a book that has blessed them or by their telling me a powerful story that illustrates a great spiritual truth.

One famous minister actually, in front of hundreds of others, called me by name and greeted me like I was "somebody" special. He slapped me on the back, hugged me and stood talking with me for many minutes. Five minutes later he was elected president of the Southern Baptist Convention. This impressed me so much. He knew the election was going on yet he wanted me to feel loved and appreciated. He wanted to encourage me in my ministry. He did! I make it a point to spend most of my time when I am at parties and social events to talk with and share with younger leaders and make sure they leave encouraged not discouraged. The Devil uses discouragement to hinder the zeal and effectiveness of many Christians. Encouragement is a valuable tool though it takes very little time and effort. Take time today to encourage someone, it will make a lasting impression as it will not only effect the individual, but will also influence yourself, and many others that you both come in contact with!

. Through your encouragement, one might receive just the gift needed to equip him for 20, 30, or even 40 years of effectively leading others in their walk with God.

6. A spiritual leader Instructs You and is not afraid to share with you. He is not ashamed to tell you the truth, good or bad. A good leader is not neutral in His directives and promotes standards of excellence that are worthy of following and emulating. Take the time to find someone who can mentor you and help you move to the next level in spiritual service to our Lord. Do not be afraid to ask for or receive help. Great leaders are always learning and growing.

7. A spiritual leader Warns you because he knows firsthand the tricks of the adversary. He shares from personal observation and experiences always telling you the truth about what you will face and genuinely wants you to succeed not just survive.

Decide today to be a good leader. Or if you dream of being a leader one day, look around and seek out someone to help you begin to learn how to lead others. The Lord will direct your steps. A righteous man's steps will be directed by the Lord Himself. It's time to take that first step to being the leader God wants you to be.

Daily Prayer Focus: Pray that God will give you the heart of a Leader and greater urgency to identify, bless, give thanks, pray, encourage, instruct, and warn others in their walk with Christ.

The Joy of the Lord is My Strength by Laurie McTier

"Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore." Psalms 16:11

As a Christian, our source and strength comes from the Lord. As we seek to follow His heart and His will for our lives, God will give us fullness of joy.

Seek the Lord today in all that you do. Commit this week to the Lord. Sometimes, my to do list seems a mile long. In the hustle and bustle of my day, it is easy for me to lose track of what is most important. If you find yourself in a stressful situation this week, keep in mind that the joy of the Lord is your strength.

With His help, we can be victorious in every situation. As we dwell on Christ and all that He has in store for us, the pressures and stresses of our day will become minimal and we will quickly feel more at rest. Our lives are to shine for Christ. His beauty is to radiate through us.

Daily Prayer Focus: God, place a hedge of protection around me today. Help me to remember that the joy of the Lord is my strength.
