Why Is Jesus Last At Christmas? by Gloria Brandon
"For unto you is born this day, in the city of David, a Savior which is Christ the Lord." Luke 2:11
I was reading a Christmas article in a newsletter the other day that blessed my heart. I'd like to summarize it for you. A pastor was telling a group of children about the birth of Christ. He used little plastic dolls to represent the key characters of the Christmas story. One symbolized Mary, another Joseph, another the innkeeper and still others the shepherds and the wise men.
Apparently the pastor was stretching the story out too long for one little boy. He raised his hand and when the pastor acknowledged him, he asked, "Why is the most important One left until last?"
He had a good point. Sometimes we focus so much on the decorating, the shopping, the parties, the concerts, the cleaning, and cooking that we have a tendency to leave the most important One until last. When do we ever get around to centering on the Guest of honor whose birthday we are celebrating? Let's make this Christmas the most meaningful one ever. It can happen if we put the most important One first, not last.
To have a truly wonderful Christmas regardless of circumstances, remember to put Christ first. After all, He is the reason we celebrate!
Daily Prayer Focus: Lord, help me to share the true meaning of Christmas; the birth of our Savior.
On The Go Prayer Focus: On The Go's GoCare ministry. This is our acts of kindness and benevolence ministry department. The focus of our GoCare ministry is to reach out to physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of hurting individuals and to build bridges between churches and their communities. Today is our Annual Inner City Christmas Festival in Downtown Nashville, TN. We will have live music, games, inflatables, refreshments, gifts, clothing, and the Gospel Message for everyone in attendance. This Festival is our way of giving back to one of the communities we minister to throughout the year! Pray for each in attendance that physical and spiritual needs will be met and that lives will be changed for the Kingdom!
Thank you for taking the time to pray for this important division of On The Go Ministries. For more information on any our ministries here at On The Go, you may send your questions to info@onthego.org.
