In All Things

In All Things by Keith Cook

"But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry."  2 Timothy 4:5

As believers we are to be watchful in all things! Keeping a watch in all things and all areas of our lives is hard to do. Doing a spiritual, emotional, and physical balancing act requires a true spiritual relationship with Jesus. You cannot fake this kind of total commitment long. Eventually you will be found out if you are neglecting being watchful in every area of your life. There will be areas of your life that will overlap and pollute the other areas.

Being watchful in all things means taking care of all areas of your life, ministry, family, friends, and associates. How can you do that? Take the following four simple suggestions and then allow the Spirit to guide you each day and in every area.

1) Don't excuse your sin! Confess and forsake all known sin. Keep your life as clean and pure as you can. When God reveals a sin or problem area allow Him to provide a way out. He will! No excuse. Everyone else may be doing it but if God directs you to avoid or not do something, if you do not heed His call it is Sin!

2) Don't exclude your family from your care and concern! You have been born into a family unit that needs you. You are not a mistake. If you are married, your family needs you to bring all your gifts and talents into the family. Not just your money. Not just you house cleaning talents. Take care of all your family, friends, associates, and church. You have relationships for a reason. Jesus leads even there!

3) Don't have a double standards - avoid "do what I say not what I do." Live the life of the believer all the time. Practice what you preach. Live a consistent and spirit-filled life all the time. Never be one thing at church and another with your friends.

4) Practice "the truth in love" principle." If you have some advice or warning for a friend or family member try to share that word in love and compassion. Never advise when angry. Never warn when the listener is worn out. Pick the God Time! Share only God's words. Not your opinion, or desire but God's word.

Now go and follow these four suggestions. Get with the Lord and see if there is anything you need to work on or any thing you can do to help someone take care of every area in their lives.
