Stand Strong, Tear Down the Wall of Sin

Stand Strong, Tear Down the Wall of Sin by Laurie McTier

"...Joshua said to the people: 'Shout, for the LORD has given you the city!' So the people shouted when the priests blew the trumpets. And it happened when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat. Then the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city." Joshua 6:16, 20

We will never forget where we were when we saw the breaking news that many of the statutes of Sadaam Hussein had been torn down by Coalition forces and the Iraqi people. The people of Iraq have lived in fear and under dictatorship. They have been under the iron rule of an evil dictator who only sought personal gain.

As I have observed current events I am reminded of Joshua as he fought the battle of Jericho. God gave him specific battle commands. The Israelites marched around the city seven days in a row. On the seventh day, God gave them a mighty victory as they sought to remain faithful and follow His instructions. The priests blew their trumpets, the people shouted, and the walls fell flat before the army.

What walls or statutes do you have in your life. The Bible states that every man is born a sinner and has come short of the glory of God. When we put our faith and trust in Jesus Christ, He frees us from the penalty of our sin, and He forgives us and cleanses us. If we have sin in our lives, our communication line with God is broken. Sin separates us from God. Just as God tore down the walls of Jericho and the statutes of an evil dictator, He wants to tear down walls of sin in your life.

Ask God to search your heart and show you sin that is present. We must put on our spiritual armor every day to fight against the darts that Satan attempts to send our way. Stand strong, stand guard, stand faithful to God, and allow Him to reign supreme in your heart.

Personal Prayer Focus: Pray that God will destroy walls and statutes of evil that have developed in your life. Pray that He will purify your heart.

Have You Ever Been Caught in A Blackout?

Have You Ever Been Caught in A Blackout? By Keith Cook

"But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light:" 1 Peter 2:9

A blackout is a time when all of the lights go off. It can be a scary situation, but rest assured, when the lights go out, God wants you to know that there is a light for you.

In the Bible we see representation of spiritual blackouts related to sin, the earth, and death.

There was a blackout where the light of God went out in men's hearts because of sin. The blackout occurred when the men no longer followed God, but their own way, their own plan, and their own agenda. It is a catastrophe to have the light of God go out in your life.

The earth was also darkened when Jesus died on the cross. Jesus took all the sins of every man, woman, and child upon Himself, and the earth became dark. Spiritual darkness was defeated then. The true light of God shown brightly on all of mankind through Jesus Christ. The death and victorious resurrection of Jesus shown the light of God on life that was possible in Heaven for all mankind. It was now possible for fallen man to walk in the revealed light of God's pathway that leads to eternity with Him. Because Jesus paid for all of the sins of the entire world real light shattered the darkness.

The Bible also speaks of the darkness of death. Everyone is assured of a time when they will one day pass from this life into another. We all will face death. It is sure and we will enter into the darkness of death. According to the scripture, we should not live in defeat because of the threat of death, but we should live victoriously in the light of God. We should not live in fear of the blackout of death, because Jesus is the Light of the World. He will shine in the darkness.

He has provided for you and He will continue to show you the path that is illuminated by His love that leads all the way through this life but on through the door of death into eternity. If you come to Him and get to really know Him, then you will have victorious peace at the blackout of death and will awaken in the light of His presence. You do not have to fear death. The light of God's Son will shine the way!

Jesus loves you and He wants you to take the three steps that leads through the darkness into real light.

1. Admit that you are a sinner and cannot save yourself.

2. Believe in Jesus Christ as God's only Son and your Savior.

3. Confess your sins before God and call upon Him to save you.

You can shine the light on your life today and vanquish the darkness by taking these three steps right now. Turn the light on by praying today. "Dear God I have sinned against you and I have a dirty sinful heart. I realize you sent Jesus Christ your Son to die on the cross, shed His blood for me, and pay for all my sins so that I may have a clean heart and eternal life. I invite Christ into my heart right now and accept Him and what He did for me. Come into my heart, Lord Jesus and cleanse it. Thank you for giving me a new life, a clean heart, and eternal life in Heaven. In Jesus name, Amen."

If you prayed to receive Jesus Christ as Your Lord and Savior today, we would love to know about it. Please email us or contact us at the phone number or address listed below. We rejoice with you in your decision to follow Christ and would like to send you some free materials which will be vital tools you can use in your walk with God.

Personal Prayer Focus: Pray that others will see the light of Christ transparent in your life and that they will be drawn to Him.

Living in God's Tent

Living in God's Tent by Keith Cook

"A Psalm of David. Jehovah, who doth sojourn in Thy tent? Who doth dwell in Thy holy hill? He who is walking uprightly, And working righteousness, And speaking truth in his heart. He hath not slandered by his tongue, He hath not done to his friend evil; And reproach he hath not lifted up Against his neighbour. Despised in his eyes is a rejected one, And those fearing Jehovah he doth honour. He hath sworn to suffer evil, and changeth not; His silver he hath not given in usury, And a bribe against the innocent Hath not taken; Whoso is doing these is not moved to the age!"  Psalms 15:1-5 (YLT Youngs Literal Translation)

Living with God is an awesome thing. Just to know that you are in Christ changes your entire outlook on life. You have purpose, meaning, and assurance of so much - just because you know where your home is and who is standing with you in all you do.

David, was asking God who can live with you? Who has the right - who has the opportunity?

According to God's Word - the way to live with God is to:

1. Walk upright (vs 2)

2. Work Rightly (vs 2)

3. Speak Truth (vs 2)

Examples of walking, working and speaking in a way that gains us admittance and residency in God's tent (tabernacle) are:

1. Having a pure heart (vs 2)

2. Never talking about others in harmful ways (vs 3)

3. Not doing anything to hurt, harm, or hinder a friend (vs 3)

4. Getting along with others no matter what they have done to you (vs 3)

5  Not associating with those who do evil or fight God's purpose in life (vs 4)

6. Honoring and a giving a place of esteem to those who live for God and live by faith (vs 4)

7. Keeping one's word even when it is hard to do or not convenient because of one's commitment to honor God in every area of one's life - not changing your mind about what you have said you will do. (vs 4)

8. Not taking advantage of others in times of trouble (vs 5)

9. Not being swayed in helping and standing with others and not being bought off by peer pressure, prejudice, or ignorance (vs 5)

After looking at this list it is probably plain to see that if that is the standard for living in God's tent then no one could ever live with God forever because each of us has at one time or another not followed these admonitions. What are we to do?

That is where salvation and the grace of God really shine great insight onto our plight and potential. In our own strength and power we are powerless to do these things all the time and earn our way into God's tent but in Christ we can gain admittance and security in God's presence forever.

When Christ died on the cross He paid the penalty for all our failures and sin. He alone can bring us into the presence of His father again. His laying down His life for our sin and the victory he won over the devil guarantees us that we will not live in the devil's tent but God's. Hell, death, and the grave no longer are our destiny of final resting place.

When we leave this life and go into eternity we can go to God's tent - Heaven - and live in God's tent forever. If we come to faith in Christ by repenting of our sins and really giving our life over to Christ then He gives us hope and daily guidance into the life He would have us live. We can never walk in the flesh and strength or our natural man but have to rely daily in Christ to live by the precepts found in this passage.

In Christ - we can walk, work, and speak and do all He would have us do. Why not prepare to live in God's tent today.

Daily Prayer: Recommit to the Lord that daily you will seek His guidance into the life He would have you to live. Pray for sensitivity to walk, work, speak, and do all that He would have you to do.

Beauty All Around You

Beauty All Around You by Joan Cook

"God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world. And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power. When He had made purification of sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, " Hebrews 1:1-3

Sitting in my brown comfy chair this morning, my feet propped up on my ottoman I was drinking my first cup of coffee when I noticed several wild turkey in my back yard.  Perfect specimens of male and females, like they were pictures in a book, gobbling and eating birdseed that had fallen to the ground from the bird feeders.

I looked in my side yard and saw a family of deer grazing on grass and walking cautiously, yet so graceful.

I picked up my Bible and began to read the book of Hebrews and this scripture caught my attention.  "He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature and upholds all things by the word of His power."  Wow!

As I thought about how beautiful our world is, I couldn't help but think random thoughts of some of my favorite things: the white sand, blue ocean, green trees; the beauty and fragrance of flowers, the coolness of the wind and the warmth of the sun; the twinkling stars, fluffy clouds, the majesty of the mountains...I could go on and on.

There are so many things I love and so much beauty in our world!  As I read this passage I couldn't help but think how God created all of this for us to enjoy.  What a good God to even be mindful of us, much less create such a beautiful place for us to live our life on earth.  Creation resembles it's creator!  God must have some kind of an imagination to dream up all of this, then speak it into existence.

Glory and honor and majesty be unto you, O Lord!

I hope you enjoy your day and are reminded of the beauty that is all around you. In the midst of your circumstances, God's beauty is screaming out to us every where we look saying, HE IS ALIVE AND HE CARES FOR ME!

Daily Prayer Focus: Praise God for His beauty all around you!

The Majesty of God

The Majesty of God by Joan Cook

"The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands" Psalm 19:1

Recently, Keith and I were flying home from a very successful GoTeam Project. The flying time was about 20 hours, excluding any layovers, so needless to say we were in the air a long time.

During the flight when I either couldn't sleep or wasn't watching a movie, I began to simply stare out the window at the clouds. We were flying high above the white and grey clouds and the sun was about to set. The sun's rays caused the clouds to turn to a purplish-pink color. They were beautiful!

I couldn't help but think of how awesome the God we serve is and how even the skies proclaim the work of His hands! The Bible tells us that if we don't declare the wonders and majesty of God, then the rocks will cry out! Declare His goodness and majesty today!

Personal Prayer Focus: Praise God today for His Awesome Power, Presence, and Majesty at work in your midst.

Let The Children Come

Let The Children Come - by Keith Cook

"But Jesus said, 'Let the children alone, and do not hinder them from coming to Me: for the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to such as these.'" Matthew 19:14

Little Robey was a handsome and rowdy young man. Each day he would be the first to come to the park where we were ministering. He was a handful and our whole team almost dreaded who would have to play and keep up with him.

Every day he would be at your heel like a puppy dog, wanting attention and love. In the middle of one service, Robey asked Jesus to be his Savior. There were no thunderbolts. We could not hear the angels singing, but we were very excited for him.

One day, my wife Joan, spent some time with Robey and found out that he had been sneaking over to be with us. His father, he said, was not a Christian and would not let him come to church. He said that if his father knew where he was, he would beat him.

I got to thinking about Robey and how God had sent us to that park so He could slip little Robey into His Kingdom. We were not a big church building with pews and stained glass. Even though his dad had rejected the church, we were love and joy to Robey. We were Christ's hands and feet to spread the love of Jesus.

Robey will fight battles all his life in order to slip into Christian situations, but now he will have the Holy Spirit guiding him and comforting him. When we left Robey, we were all in tears. We must let the children come to Jesus. He cares for them. He sends us to them.

Open your eyes! Care and share!

Daily Prayer Focus: Pray for boys and girls who do not know Jesus. Pray that God will give them the opportunity to hear the Gospel message and come to know Him.

Pray For Your Local Church

Pray For Your Local Church by Keith Cook

"For this reason also, since the day we heard of it, we have not ceased to pray for you and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding," Colossians 1:9

Pray for your local church. We are never to forsake praying, attending, and supporting our local church, no matter how many other ministries we are associated with. Take a moment to pray for your church right now. Thank God for a good local church and the freedom to assemble together as believers. Thank Him for the comforts and resources you have at your church.

Here are some things to specifically pray for your church, not just today, but on a regular basis.

Prayer for your Local Church - Call out the name of your church and thank God for it. Pray for all the activities of your local church. Pray that they are consistent with God's perfect will for a church in this generation.

Pray for the Staff at your Church - Pray for all the key leaders by name or by position if you are not familiar with each person. If the Lord gives you a promise or word of encouragement for them, why not share that with them.

Pray for Families at your Church - Pray for your friends, that they will be strong and consistent in their walk for Christ.

Pray for Parents at your Church - Pray for wisdom and encouragement.

Pray for Singles and Couples at your Church - Pray for purity and holiness in the personal relationships and careers.

Pray for all the Youth at your Church - Pray for protection and for the Holy Spirit to begin to call out teens who are ready and willing to serve the Lord.

Pray for all the Children at your Church - Pray for development and protection of these young children as they grow and mature in life.

Pray for Senior Adults at your Church - Pray that they will not grow weary in doing good, and that they will not stop being role models and examples to younger generations.

Pray for a Harvest of Souls at your Church - Pray for people to come to the Lord through the ministries of your local church.

Pray against the Schemes of the Devil on your Church - The Devil wants to discredit your church and have it fall back into a lukewarm and irrelevant place in your community. Prayer is a great weapon that can be used to defeat the enemy and arm the saints. Now is the time to rise to the highest plane and pray, pray, pray.

Daily Prayer Focus: Pray for your Local Church. Ask God for His Blessings upon your Church Staff, Families, Parents, Singles, Couples, Youth, Children, Senior Adults, and Outreach Events.

On The Go Prayer Focus: The Finances of Team as they boldly go out for Jesus Christ. Pray that all their needs will be met at home and for the projects they are working on.

Thank you for taking the time to pray for this important division of On The Go Ministries. For more information on any our ministries here at On The Go, you may send your questions to info@onthego.org.

Storms All Around Us

Storms All Around Us by Laurie McTier

"For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand." Ephesians 6:12, 13

"April showers bring May flowers." I can remember hearing this quote even as a little child. During the months of April and May, we grow accustomed to seasonal thunderstorms and showers, and often we have to take precautions.

Recently, I remember looking at the national radar map and found that all across the United States, it seemed that every state on the map had rain forecasted. In the Southern states, we had forecasted thunderstorms and possible tornadoes for the next four days. As we began to see the storms and tornadoes moving into our area, we knew that we could not play the role of the spectator. Crisis times demand action, and our response became one of prevention and livelihood.

Just as we took steps to protect ourselves during the thunderstorms and tornado warnings, we must take cover against storms that rise against us spiritually. Recently, God gave me this acronym that I hope will challenge you as you endure the storms.

Spiritual Preparation. We must spend time daily in God's Word and in prayer. This will prepare us for any storm that comes into our path.

Take Cover. Put on your Gospel armor as described in Ephesians 6. We must take an active stance against the storm by claiming truth, righteousness, God's Word, faith, and salvation.

Openly heed to warnings. The Bible reminds us that we should run from even the appearance of evil. As we take heed to thunderstorm and tornado warnings which are coming into our paths, we must also heed God's Word. The Holy Spirit intercedes on our behalf, and we must heed to His leadership in our lives.

Remain Calm. True peace comes directly and solely from God. In the midst of storms in our lives we can rest assured that God is aware of the storm and at work on our behalf. He is our Shield and Defender.

Mandate. Often during storms in life, we notify friends and family to alert them to dangerous weather that is coming into their path. Spiritually, we have the same responsibility. Christ has given us the Great Commission to share our faith and tell others about His love. We would not remain quiet if we knew our family were in physical danger. Is it not more important to warn them of the dangers of sin and separation from God?

Truly, we have an awesome responsibility to be prepared during the storms. God give us a sense of urgency that we may be prepared for the storms of life and the boldness that we need to share with our friends and family who are need of You.

Daily Prayer Focus: Pray that as you endure storms in your life you will make spiritual preparations, take cover, openly heed warnings, remain calm, and accept His mandate.

On The Go Prayer Focus: The Families of the On The Go staff. Pray for their emotions, finances, safety, wisdom, and spiritual health.

Milestones

Milestones by Keith Cook

"I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus." Philippians 3:14

Some of your life is over and now what is around the corner? Think about some of the milestones that are going to be coming up in your life. Some of them will be easy, some exciting, some will take real courage, commitment, and perseverance. You are going to need all the resources that God has given you to make it through all that is around the corner.

These are some of your resources that you have to reach your full potential:

1. Your Friends - It is great to have a best friend, mate, or group of friends to encourage you and help you be all that God wants you to be.

2. The Holy Spirit - With God working on the inside you can handle anything that happens on the outside! Allow the Holy Spirit to direct your steps into your future. He knows what is around the corner.

3. The Bible - The Word of God has many references that point to how men and women of faith reached and lived through many milestones in their lives. With such vivid and real object lessons and examples, you have a great resource in your quest for living right and succeeding in all you are to do.

4. Your Heritage - God has given you a family to help mold, steer, and support you. Even your community and culture can be used of God to help you mature and grow.

5. Your Faith - As you grow in faith you will gain confidence to trust God more and reach out in service ever greater.

Mighty Men

Mighty Men by Joan Cook

"one of the three mighty men with David...But he stood in the midst of the ground, and defended it, and slew the Philistines: and the LORD wrought a great victory." 2 Samuel 23:8-12

Recently in the middle of my devotion, the Lord showed me something that I desire to have in my life.  2 Samuel 23: 8-12 describes King David's mighty men.  The first was Adino who killed eight hundred men at one time.  The second was Eleazar who "arose and attacked the Philistines until his hand was weary and his hand stuck to the sword."  Last was Shammah, who "stationed himself in the middle of the field, defended it, and killed the Philistines."  Each time the Lord brought about a victory for the mighty men.

As I was reading this I began to think about how the Bible described these three men.  What did they have in their lives that made them mighty?  The first thing was, of course, STRENGTH!  They were each very strong.  Adino was FEARLESS!  If you had to fight eight hundred men at one time, you'd have to be pretty fearless or crazy!  Maybe he was a little of both!  Eleazar had ENDURANCE!  He was not going to quit until the battle was won.  So he continued to fight until his hand literally stuck to his sword.  Shammah was WISDOM!  He forged a plan and sat in the middle of a field  waiting to attack his enemy.  He knew he couldn't take them on since they had gathered together as a troop, so he drew up a plan for victory!  He had wisdom to know what to do, when to proceed, and how to accomplish it!

To be a strong mighty warrior for God, we must be fearless.  We must not look at our circumstances and how impossible things might be.  Do not look at excuses of how it can't be done,  but know God has our back!  We know our enemy quite well and he wants to scare us to death by having us look and see him and retreat.  But, that's not what Adino did.  He looked and saw his enemy, all 800 of them!  Then he looked to God and ran to the battle!

We also must have endurance if we are to accomplish our task.  We can never give up!  The Bible tells us not to grow weary in doing good because you will get weary!  We all do!  Sometimes it might seem like there's no end to your situation.  You're tired of always fighting the enemy.  You can't go on and do it anymore!  But, with God's help, you can!!!!  Just like Eleazar kept fighting even though his hand was weary and stuck to his sword, he did not quit!  He wanted victory so bad that he endured until his enemies were defeated.

It is very important that we do not run ahead of what God is telling us to do.  It would have been easy for Shammah to run straight into the troop of soldiers waving his sword and shouting, "Victory"!  But, God didn't, in fact, He told him to do something else. We must be wise, as Shammah was wise and listen to what and how God is telling us to accomplish the task He has for us.  We must make a plan to ensure victory and stick to it.

We all want to be mighty men and women of God!  Adino, Eleazar, and Shammah obtained victory over their enemies and you can too.  The Bible tells us that the devil is on the prowl and waiting for someone to devour.  As Christians, we must put on our armor and get ready to fight.  Not in your own strength, but in the strength of the Lord listening to the orders of our Commander in Chief!

Daily Prayer Focus:  Pray that God will strengthen you and enable you to be a mighty man/woman of God!

On The Go Prayer Focus: The follow-up of inquirers who come publicly and make decisions for Christ, write in for materials to grow in Christ, or who visit our website looking for help in following Christ. Pray for local believers, churches, parents, and friends who all will be used of God to nurture each and every one to maturity in Christ.

Thank you for taking the time to pray for this important division of On The Go Ministries. For more information on any our ministries here at On The Go, you may send your questions to info@onthego.org.

God Will Give You the Desires of Your Heart

God Will Give You the Desires of Your Heart by Dr. Ken Mattox, DDS

"May He grant you according to your heart's desire, and fulfill all your purpose. We will rejoice in your salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners! May the LORD fulfill all your petitions." Psalm 20:4, 5

My wife Bettye and I had the privilege of serving in Zimbabwe on several occasions as we treated patients with dental needs at the hospital in Sanyati. On our last visit, we had the opportunity to renew acquaintances with our dear friends Gene and Jean Phillips. They have served for over 42 years as missionaries, and we just love to hear testimonies of how God has graciously blessed them and provided for their ministry over the years.

Today I want to share with you one of their stories from the field. In their first years of ministry, they served in an area that was well irrigated, and God blessed them with many flowers, a garden, and fruit trees. It brought joy to their heart to be blessed with some luxuries that they treasured back home!

Soon, they were asked to go to a more remote arid (dry) area to serve. Jean knew that the possibility of having a garden, flowers, or even a fruit tree would be very difficult in this area. Although this caused her sadness, she knew that they must go. One day in her quiet time, God brought her to Psalm 37:4, "Delight yourself also in the LORD, and He shall give you the desires of your heart."

Jean began to pray that God would give her the desires of her heart, or else, take the desires away. The first week after the Phillips' moved to their new area of ministry, a volunteer team from Louisiana came to the area. God sent them a team of drillers, and they were drilling water wells for people just above them. The Phillips' not only got water, they began to receive water from an artesian well. God blessed them with a steady stream of water flowing through their yard only a few feet from where they wanted their garden. Gene dug a small ditch, and Jean had all the water she could have ever wanted. God blessed them with a beautiful garden, and within nine months, they began to get fruit from a fruit tree they had planted.

Remain faithful to the Lord today. Give thanks to God and make your petitions known to Him. Let Him know the desires of your heart, and as you faithfully serve Him, He will shower you with His blessings.

Daily Prayer Focus: Praise God from whom all blessings flow!

On The Go Prayer Focus: Those who need to make decisions for Christ as On The Go and the Keith Cook Team shares the Gospel around the world. Pray that they will hear a clear message about Christ, that the Holy Spirit will move them to a point of decision and that they will be bold enough to publicly respond for Christ.

We Look Strange

We Look Strange by Keith Cook

"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbour as yourself." Matthew 22:37, 39

Christians are strange birds. We often look and sound different than those we regularly come in contact with at work or play. How we come across and how we present ourselves has a great deal to do with how well our witnessing efforts will be received.

How do most lost individuals view us? What kind of messages do we portray by our actions and words? Let's take a closer look.

I have talked with the unchurched, professing unbelievers, rebellious radicals, and confused seekers of truth all over the world and these are five conclusions I have come to.

1. The unchurched see believers as Bible Thumpers. They actually believe we know the Bible and have an answer or solution for almost every ill that befalls a person. They also are intimidated by some zealots who attack them with religious knowledge without "speaking the truth in love." Having found that out leads me to question why so many Christians do not use this great insight for their advantage by actually knowing the Bible and applying what it says to social ills and problems. Using a timely and true word from God has more weight than our opinion. Use the Word but be careful not to beat someone over the head with your scriptural insights!

2. The seeker sees Christians in general as being too busy to worry with them. They assume that we all are too busy and that that is the reason we never invite them to our events, services, and special activities. They drive by hundreds of churches with signs and posters proclaiming all the fantastic events going on inside. While most of us would not crash a party uninvited so no believers will not risk coming to most church events without a personal invitation.

3. Lost people believe that Christians have it all together. No problems, no worries, no needs. Because we put on a good show we can often risk not giving God the glory in how He directs and protects us. We need to be transparent in our relying on Him in the middle of crisis and when we must make tough decisions.

4. The non-churched also believe that Christians make great bosses, teammates, friends, and are basically good people. That is why a church goer who goes crazy and does something tragic makes headlines. It's not just an attack of Satan trying to expose Christianity, it often in a numb and unbelieving secular society who can not believe that someone who professes Christ could do such a thing. Believers are put up on a pedestal and must quickly confess their sins and shortcoming to all it effects. Waiting and covering sin always leads to ruin. We need to be examples and live for Christ all the time. We also must let Jesus be our guide for how to live and practice our faith.

5. A final word on how the lost see Christians. They do see us! They are watching us. They can judge us right or wrong when we display non-Christlike attitudes. The lost judge us most sharply when we live contrary to the Bible. They also critique us strongly when we act like we don't care about a social issue. They get hurt and feel like we do not value them when we dismiss them and do not share our real faith with them.

The Devil has made most believers feel that the lost will be offended if we share with them but I have found just the opposite. They want to talk, they want to begin a dialog about faith. They want to be religious. They need Jesus. He will direct them back to living right and being right with God.

Daily Prayer Focus: Pray that God will give you a deeper sensitivity to the needs of the non-churched and unbelievers in your family, neighborhood, and work place. Pray for a greater urgency to speak the truth with boldness.

Love Is

Love Is by David Brandon

"By this all men will know you are my disciples, if you have love one for another." John 13:35

If someone asked you to finish this statement, "Love is..." how would you answer?

Some might say, "Love is running with my dog." "Love is riding a motorcycle." Or "Love is playing sports."

You might say, "Love is caring for your family." When I met my wife, Gloria, it was easy to fall in love with her and I love her more every day. At the birth of my son, Joshua I loved him immediately, because he was a gift from God.

Love is God giving His Son so we may have eternal life and avoid Hell. When I gave my life to Jesus, He forgave me of my sins and filled me with the Holy Spirit. I realized a deep sense of His love for me and I naturally loved Him back.

Love is Christians showing that Jesus is real inside and outside the Church. Many people today need to be loved by Jesus. Their lifestyle may be different from ours but they need Jesus. People without Christ need to see Him in us by our actions.

The Bible says, "Love is patient, love is kind, and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails;" 1 Corinthians 13:4-8

Love is not a feeling but a decision to take action.

Decide today to:

Love God by getting alone with Him daily
Love your neighbor by caring for them
Pray for the unlovable and love them
Do an act of kindness for someone that wouldn't expect it from you.
 Pray for Evangelists and Missionaries
Give financially so that the love of the Jesus is carried around the world

On The Go has many fine men and women who are taking the love of Jesus around the world. You can join them with your prayers and financial giving.

Love is sharing with everyone we meet the Good News that "Jesus loves them".

Daily Prayer Focus: Pray that God will allow you to show love to someone in need. Also, pray for the lost that they will see their need for a Savior.

On The Go Prayer Focus: Joan Cook's "Women On The Go" Ministries. Joan's "Women On The Go" programs are implemented at women's conferences, local churches, retreats, and separate stand-alone events. God has given her a burden to minister to and encourage women in their walk with the Lord. Pray for Joan as she ministers and shares from her heart and as she presents motivational, evangelistic programs, materials, and leadership to and for women that will challenge and motivate them to a deeper walk with the Lord.

By Faith We Stand

By Faith We Stand by On The Go Staff

Today the staff at On The Go would like to encourage you to spend some time meditating on the following verses on FAITH. We believe that faith can move mountains that seem impossible, and by faith you can serve the Lord in any capacity He has called you to serve!

"But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour." Matthew 9:22

"Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt." Matthew 15:28

"After these things the word of the LORD came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward." Genesis 15:1

"And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you." Matthew 17:20

"And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing." 1 Corinthians 13:2

"Where there is no vision, the people perish:" Proverbs 29:18

Stand in faith today! God will reward you for your faithfulness.

Daily Prayer Focus: Pray that God will continue to expand your ministry as you seek to faithfully serve Him.

Lord, I See

Lord, I See by Tekka Kelly and Laurie McTier

"So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. For I am the LORD, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you." Isaiah 41:10, 13

As Christians we can all look around us everyday and see signs of God's Presence and Power in our lives. Our God is an awesome God, and He is truly worthy to be praised. All too often; however, we fail to thank God for the blessings He has given to us. May we never take His Presence and Power for granted.

Our walk with Christ is dependent upon the time that we spend with Him each and everyday in prayer and Bible study. May God reveal His truths to us so that in return we can bless others with the lessons He has taught us. God doesn't bless us and expect us to hoard the blessings, but wants us to share them with our family and friends that God puts across our paths.

Today I want to close by leaving you with a poem written by a young girl that has grown-up under the influence of On The Go Ministries. Tekká became a Christian as a young girl during one of our Neighborhood Outreaches, and God has blessed her with a gift of writing poetry and songs.

Lord I See

Lord I see your Mighty Power
Shining through the Light Tower.
Some may say He's a Coward.
But they don't know His Marvelous Power.

From where I stand
He is the Glory in all our land.
We shall Sing and Dance
For He will Rise Again.

From the bottom of the ocean
To the top of the sky.
He's our salvation
That we see rise.

From every nation
To every grand,
To every state he will rise again.

For the Lord
We seek will rise again.

Daily Prayer Focus: Pray that your Christian faith never become mundane or common place. Pray God will give you renewed zeal and a renewed sense of His Presence and His Power.

Is Your Sin Too Big For God To Forgive?

Is Your Sin Too Big For God To Forgive? By Joan Cook

"Therefore, to one who knows the right thing to do and does not do it, to him it is sin." James 4:17

As human beings we seem to put different degrees on sin. For instance, telling a lie might be classified as a very small sin, while, stealing might be thought of as a much bigger sin.

Jesus Christ had to pay the price for each and every sin we commit or will ever commit. You know, just one of our sins would have sent Jesus to the cross, no matter how big or small we think it might be.

Have you ever been to the beach? At the beach there is sand everywhere. In the sand you might see tiny little crabs burrowing themselves in very small holes. You might see children playing and digging much larger holes in the sand with their shovels. You might even see a bulldozer digging gigantic holes in the sand. When the ocean tide comes in, all of the holes will be covered up with water, no matter how large or small they are.

God's forgiveness is the same! No matter how great we might think our sin is, He can and will forgive, if only we'll ask Him.

Daily Prayer Focus:  Ask God to search your heart and show you the sin that is in your life. Repent from your sin and recommit to serve the Lord with all of your heart.

On The Go Prayer Focus: On The Go's USA Outreach Effort. God has placed a United States effort on the heart and mind of the On The Go Team. Called Out and Secure

Called Out and Secure by Laurie McTier

"I the LORD have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles; To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house." Isaiah 42:6,7

As Christians, God has given to each of us the command of the Great Commission, to share His love and truths with those who we come in contact with. The Bible says in Romans 3:23, "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God." Every man is in need of a Savior; our sin debt has been paid in full. The price of eternal freedom has been covered, all we must do is place our faith and trust in Jesus Christ and believe in Him so that we might know Him and spend eternity with Him in Heaven.

During my quiet time God showed me the following truths out of Isaiah 42:6, 7.

1) God has called each of us to live holy, pure lives, beyond reproach.

2) God is omnipresent. He has called us, and is also with us every step of the way as we are obedient to His will and His command.

3) God wants to give us a covenant, a promise, and a burden for those to whom we must minister. He has called us to be a Light in the darkness, we must let His love flow through us.

4) God wants us to be active in the fight for freedom. God wants to give us a heart of compassion for those who are in bondage to sin and darkness. We must stand in the gap and seek opportunities to share His love and His truths which alone can yield eternal light and freedom to those in bondage.

God asks not for our abilities, but our availability to carry out His tasks. God can use each of us to impact this world for Him, one individual at a time.

Daily Prayer Focus: Pray that God will give you a renewed burden to be active in the fight for freedom from sin and bondage!

On The Go Prayer Focus: On The Go's Performing Arts Team. Pray for our team as we minister through drama, puppets, interpretive dance, and music. Our Performing Arts Teams are made up of volunteers and On The Go staffers who travel around the USA to local churches and events sharing the Good News.

Living On The Edge Of Eternity

Living On The Edge Of Eternity by Keith Cook

"Whoever speaks, let him speak as it were the utterances of God. Whoever serves let him do so by the strength that God supplies; so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belongs the glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen." 1 Peter 4:11

As you think about this passage, you must remember that these scriptures were written by Peter hundreds of years ago. He had a message from God, a fresh word for his generation. I believe that every generation needs men and women who live their lives as if they are living on the edge of eternity. They are men and women of passion - real champions for God! They boldly share God's message of salvation as if today was their last day on this earth.

I have come to the following conclusions about those who are living on the edge of eternity. Every person that I have met who has an "on the edge" mentality has, to a varying degree, most of the following spiritual and motivational attributes.

1. Those living on the edge of eternity know the lessons of past history and have learned from them.

2. They also demonstrate the life-changing power of God to their present culture.

3. When they face the future they do so with hope and expectation.

4. Their focus in life is to have a clear and urgent message to share in their daily lives.

5. Those living on the edge of eternity are galvanized by the ever-present supernatural power of the Holy Spirit.

6. Their attitude is permeated with the "mind of Christ" and they know what God wants them to do because they are communicating with Him in a regular time of personal Bible study and prayer.

7. Most importantly, those living on the edge of eternity are proactive in their service to God's kingdom. (Proactive is defined as "acting in advance to deal with an expected difficulty". Merriam-Webster Dictionary)

Instead of reacting to circumstances, public opinion, or crisis, these men and women deliberately choose to act on what Jesus told them to do in their quiet time. Their quiet time with the Lord empowers them to act with purpose and confidence.

Decide today to "live life on the edge"!

Daily Prayer Focus: Pray that God will empower your quiet time with Him and will enable you to respond obediently with purpose and confidence.

Answered Prayers

Answered Prayers by Keith Cook

"Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him." Matthew 6:8

I found something unique while searching the internet the other day. Take a look:

"Answered Prayers (via the internet)

I asked for strength - and God gave me difficulties to make me strong.

I asked for wisdom - and God gave me problems to learn to solve.

I asked for prosperity - and God gave me brain and brawn to work.

I asked for courage - and God gave me dangers to overcome.

I asked for love - and God gave me troubled people to help.

I asked for favours - and God gave me opportunities.

I Received nothing I wanted - I received everything I needed.

My prayers have been answered."

I was stuck by how true this often is. God knows our needs. Hears our prayers. Wants to bless and help us yet we often do not get what we think we need or have what we want to have out of life.

God is not Santa Claus with a big bag of toys for us - but He does have some wonderful gifts for each true believer to receive. These gifts are not necessarily the most culturally appreciated or noticed.  God's most wonderful gift to us is in the area of peace and it comes every time we put all of our hopes, dreams, cares, and life into His omnipotent hands.

His will and answers to prayers are far greater than the cries from our lips or the pains that rise up out of our hearts. His answers are divine. His leadings are sure and secure. His provisions are eternal and just.

Thank God for answered prayers. He really does answer when we call. Sometimes we just forget He is the one in control!

May the love of Christ keep you in the center of God's answers to your prayers. Do not try to run from or avoid His unique replies to your requests. Trust Him and enjoy the blessings of obedience and the fellowship of relationship with God almighty.

Daily Prayer Focus: Praise God for answered prayers.

On The Go Prayer Focus: On The Go Publications & Media Team. We are striving to saturate and minister to a contemporary culture and society through modern media. Pray For Individual Christians

Pray For Individual Christians by Keith Cook

"...I urge that entreaties and prayers and thanksgiving be made on behalf of all men..." 1 Timothy 2:1

God wants us to pray for fellow believers. When we neglect to remember others and their needs, we rob them of a tremendous blessing and ourselves of joining in their reward and personal ministries. We need to co-labor with others in prayer and encouragement.

What should we pray for other believers? Why not consider praying the following for all the saints in training that you know:

Pray for their Personal Holiness - Pray that they can always forgive, forget wrongs done to them, constantly reflect on the mercy of God, and rejoice in the forgiveness that they have received. Personal Holiness is enhanced by being a person of spiritual disciplines. Being a person of prayer, the Word, and reflection is very beneficial to one's personal growth in Christ.

Pray for their Personal Vision - Pray that they have divine wisdom, and supernatural courage to follow the Spirit's leading in their life and ministry. Each Christian has a call from God to join Him in service and compassion. Each is to follow the Lord's example of being blessed to be a blessing.

"I am sending you to them to open their eyes and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God"  Acts 26:17,18

And also pray for their Personal Power - Power for service and commitment to doing God's will requires a daily emptying of self and filling of the Holy Spirit. It is God's power that the believer needs in order to do God's perfect will. Rely and trust in the Spirit for your strength.

Daily Prayer Focus: Pray for Christian Leaders, your Pastoral Staff, Missionaries and Evangelists, Christian Friends, and yourself for Personal Holiness, Vision, and Power.

On The Go Prayer Focus: The physical, spiritual, emotional, and financial needs of people hurting all over the United States and Worldwide. As God gives us opportunity in times of crisis we need to rapidly move to help.

Thank you for taking the time to pray for this important division of On The Go Ministries. For more information on any our ministries here at On The Go, you may send your questions to info@onthego.org.

Finish What You Started

Finish What You Started by David Brandon

"Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:" Philippians 1:6

It's easy for me to start something but difficult to see it through to the end. Today's verse has sustained me many times over the years. God has started a work in every Christian's life and He will finish what He started.

As Jesus hung on the cross He cried out, "It is finished." We're not to grow weary in well doing but to keep at the work and will of God for our lives. One day there will be rewards and whatever they may be, I look forward to laying them at the feet of Jesus. My desire to hear the words of Jesus, "Well done my good and faithful servant."

There are those around us who need good examples of someone who can start something good, but also see it through. You may be a Sunday School teacher, a Deacon, or a leader in your church. Stay at the good work Jesus started in you. No matter what you are going through, don't give up. Stay true to Him who never sleeps nor slumbers, He's always available, He will empower you, and equip you for the work He has begun in and through you.

Daily Prayer: Pray that God will enable you to finish well. Pray for discernment and sensitivity to areas in your life that you have started, but need to finish.

On The Go Prayer Focus: On The Go's Neighborhood Outreach Program. In reality, very little is being done to reach people in many communities across the USA. On The Go is striving to train local Christians and help them develop programs that can systematically and permanently reach real needs in their neighborhoods.

DARE TO SHARE

DARE TO SHARE by Keith Cook

"but the righteous are bold as a lion." Proverbs 28:1

You must be willing to Share the Love of Jesus with all you meet.

S  - You must be SENSITIVE to the needs that are around you. When you are, you will have divine appointments from God.

H - Your HEART must be in the right place. Do you have a heart of love and compassion to help and reach the lost and needy?

A  - You must be AVAILABLE to Christ to be used for service. By being available and adaptable to the needs of others, the Holy Spirit will use you to do great things for the Kingdom of God.

R  - You must always RELY ON THE HOLY SPIRIT in every area of your life. When you are relying and trusting God you will be able to relax, defeat your fears, and really launch out into the deep waters of real ministry.

E  - And finally, if you are going to really share with others, your ministry must have an EVANGELISTIC EXPRESSION. In other words you will share the Gospel and you will call for a decision for Christ. As you go for Christ you must be confident and humble. If you share the truths of Christ you will see the hand of God move. If you do your part God will always be there!

Dare to share your faith this week.

Daily Prayer Focus:  Pray for a greater sensitivity to the needs of those around you. Pray for Divine Appointments and the opportunity to Share the Love of Christ.

On The Go Prayer Focus: On The Go's GoKids Clubs. The focus of GoKids Clubs is to present a clear Gospel message to young children in our festivals, missions, and local neighborhoods. Pray for On The Go as we minister to boys and girls and share with them the love of Jesus Christ.

The Progression of Desire

The Progression of Desire by Joan Cook

"What is the source of quarrels and conflicts among you?  Is not the source your pleasures that wage war in your members?  You lust and do not have; so you commit murder. And you are envious and cannot obtain; so you fight and quarrel." James 4:1-2

Using God as an excuse for a fight is unwise.  The Jewish Christians had frequent wars with the Romans. They were a very quarrelsome, divided people. They even fought amongst themselves.  Why are there fights and conflicts?  I believe the Word of God tells us it is due to our "worldly desires for pleasure".

That's not unlike the Christians of today, is it?  Even in today's Christian marriages we even see ladies who are not content, so they nag their husbands to get what they want or men who buy big ticket items trying to fulfill discontentment.

Here is the progression of desire:

1.  Want something

2.  Begin to think about it.

3.  Dominates our thoughts and we involuntarily think about it all the time.

4.  Dream about it.

5.  Begin to imagine having it no matter the cost.

6.  Do whatever it takes to obtain it.

Some desires may be perfectly legitimate (ex: health, friendship, family, job, home).  The problem comes when desires can't be obtained, then temptation comes and can lead us to sin!  Then, we have been drawn away from God by our desires.

When we desire something that we cannot obtain, we can become discontent with what we have. Ruth Bell Graham wrote this prayer that could be yours today:

"Teach me contentment, Lord, whatever my lot,  keeping my eyes on You in trust.  Knowing your love is true, your way is just.

Teach discontentment, Lord, with what I am; daily striving, growing daily nearer, finding you are daily closer, dearer.

Contented, Lord, yet discontented make me, both together working, blending all in your glory ending."

Sin's Progress

Sin's Progress by Keith Cook

"But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness." 1 Timothy 6:11

Sin is never neutral. Sin always effects others around you. Sin has a cause and effect; there is no way around it except not to sin. The only way to do that is to let Jesus Christ give you strength and protection.

The natural progression of sin is to See Sin, Desire Sin, Take Sin, and then to Give Sin.

See - Seeing sin is the mental and emotional level of noticing something or an attitude as being pleasing to one of the senses. (Feel, smell, taste, see, hear, etc...) To look upon something is not wrong. To look upon it with interest or admiration with curiosity, this leads to the scale of sin's progression.

Desire - This is the level where sin is really germinated and hatched. After seeing sin, the interest and admiration for sin is sparked, and this can result in the desire for the object or action. Desire leads you to a sense that you want that certain object or action, you crave it, you must do something, or you must have it.

Take - Once someone moves from seeing sin to desiring sin, it is easy to move on to the taking part of sin. Sin has been allowed to master the individual. Sin has contaminated the soul, heart, and mind. It also will affect the body.

Give - Giving sin is actively passing on habits, traits, and opportunities for others to sin. It is like Eve getting Adam to eat the forbidden fruit. It is the father passing on anger and abuse to a child. It is a big brother passing down a bad habit to a sibling. It is a Christian passing on an excuse for not taking a stand to another believer who then justifies inactivity and passivity.

Do not let sin progress in your life. Stop the flow. Stop the downward spiral of sin in your life. Do not let sin get a foothold in your life.

Daily Prayer Focus: Pray that God will stop the downward spiral of sin in your life. Pray that God will enable you to flee from even the appearance of sin.

On The Go Prayer Focus: On The Go's "Adopt An Evangelist" program. This program provides funding and support for various missions and evangelists around the world.

Doing God's Work

Doing God's Work by Keith Cook

"and he began to speak out boldly in the synagogue. But when Pricilla and Aquila heard him, they took him aside and explained to him the way of God more accurately" Acts 18:26 NASB

Ministries, churches, companies, and even families can go through times of great change.  Long and faithful workers leave or go off and do things that seem wrong or out of character for a true servant of Jesus.

What are we to do in those times?

I have seen great Christian workers get in financial binds and frantically need to make more money go off with wild and crazy plans to get out of debt overnight.

Others have quit one fruitful ministry or job and run off to do a new ministry because they think they have heard from God. Their emotions or lack of discipline has clouded their hearing the voice of God.

Hearing from God and speaking on behalf of God is a tremendous responsibility. In the Old Testament if someone said they heard from God about something and later it was a mistake they were stoned. Be careful giving God credit for some of your harebrained ideas. He may not want any - especially if it was not really Him!

When God has called you to full time service you need to give your all to that service and not halfheartedly volunteer to do the Lord's work. There are to be no volunteers in God's service - there are only to be faithful servants. Never settle for doing a ministry that anyone can do. Make sure you are doing that one thing that God has called only you to do!

There is a great struggle in every man and woman to help God out and take charge of ones life and just handle it. But God wants us to let Him handle it. He wants to handle your funds, your family, and your faithful commitment to serve Him.

The famous missionary pioneer to Africa, C. T. Studd, is a favorite of mine. He has spoken volumes into my life by way of his biography. While rereading one of the early accounts of his life and ministry I ran across the following that he advised all his candidates for ministry. I believe it applies even more today.

"I don't tell these fellows to volunteer, I tell them to surrender to God and to go away rejoicing in Him, and He will in His own way make all plain."

He went on to say that:

1. If you don't desire to meet the Devil during the day, meet Jesus before dawn.

2. If you don't want the Devil to hit you, hit him first, and hit him with all your might, so that he may be too crippled to hit back. 'Preach the Word' is the rod the Devil fears and hates.

3. If you don't want to fall - walk, and walk straight and walk fast!

4. Three of the Devil's dogs with which he hunts us are:

-Swelled head
-Laziness
-Cupidity

Though long transferred from this life to the next, he had great wisdom. In order to do God's work - God's way - you must start and remain faithful to trusting Him and listening to only Him. He will provide. He will guide. Do not panic, run, retreat, be afraid, quit, or give up. Now is not the time to loose one faithful evangelistic servant in God's army.

Daily Prayer Focus: Answer the following questions:

What has God called you to do in the past?

What progress has He made in bringing it to past?

What has hindered the Lord from moving you into that ministry?

What can you do to get back to where God wants you to be without doubting His plan or striving to make it happen in the natural or flesh?

On The Go Prayer Focus: On The GoAudio Podcasts and Radio Ministries. Currently we are producing various programs which go over the internet and international airwaves. Pray that God will continue to bless the On The GoAudio Podcasts and that He will expand the listening base. Visit OnTheGo.org to hear past broadcasts.
