The GoPrayer

The GoPrayer by Keith Cook

"Beloved, I pray that in all respects you may prosper and be in good health, just as your soul prospers." 3 John 2

If you want to help others to be all that God wants them to be you can pray for them. The kind of prayer that I am talking about is proactive prayer. Your prayer is full of life and action. When you are praying for them you are praying for a positive reason, seeking God directed results, and expecting God to supply all their needs for His glory.

Why not try praying, what I call, the "GoPrayer". The structure of this prayer is important. It helps you when you pray to pray a more focused and directed prayer. Pray for the following three things:

1. Pray that they will Prosper.

Pray for their finances and livelihood. Pray that all they touch will be successful. When Christians prosper they automatically bless others if they are in the Spirit. This helps the overall plan of God. Believers are blessed and they bless others who then can bless others. The cycle should never be broken. If everyone keeps blessing everyone who has a need then everyone's needs are being met. The only thing that can stop the flow of God's blessings is when someone decides not to share and give as they have been given unto.

2. Pray that they will be in Good Health.

God given compassion will drive you to your knees to pray for someone's health and well-being. When someone is in good health they are able to go for Jesus and use their talents for His kingdom. Pray for their good health because you care and because you want them to be able to use their health as a testimony for Christ.

3. Pray that their Soul Prospers.

Always remember to pray that someone is walking and developing in Christ. It is not enough to have wealth and health. We all also need true spirituality. Pray that your friends and associates will prosper in spiritual matters. Pray that they will read the Word of God and discern what God is saying to their hearts. Pray that they will mature and grow as disciples of Christ in these last days. Pray that they will be prepared to share their faith and that they will have divine appointments. A soul never really prospers unless it is being used by God to bring others into a right relationship with Christ. This is what the Bible calls a "wise" person. This is someone who is out winning souls.

The GoPrayer is appropriate to pray for everyone that you know. It is also alright to share with those you are praying for that you are praying for them. It should encourage them. It may even motivate them to start using the GoPrayer in their devotional life. It also helps them know that God cares for the little things in their lives as well as the major. He is concerned with and cares for their total life. It is not selfish or sinful to ask God to prosper you, heal you, and mature you!

GoPray the GoPrayer Today!

Personal Prayer Focus: Pray for yourself and your family and friends that each one will prosper, experience good health, and that their soul will prosper.

On The Go Prayer Focus: Keith Cook, Joan Cook, the U.S.A. Staff, and On The Go Board of Directors, as they add leadership and direction for the ongoing ministries of the Keith Cook Team and On The Go.

Clean Out Your Car

Clean Out Your Car by Keith Cook, Jr.

"Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me." Psalms 51:10

A friend was about to hop in my car one day when I quickly began to clean things up. I grabbed a ton of stuff and began to throw it in the trunk. I would image this has happened to many of you, I hope not but if you're anything like me it is a common occurrence.  After the day was through I began to go through the things I put in the trunk. It was a group of many things from clothes and CD's to cleats and books. I would take a load from my trunk and walk it to my apartment and begin to put things where they belong. I began to clean out my car. Not just dropping a pile in the floor of my room but really putting it in its place when I brought it in. It wasn't fun and it took a lot of time but I liked the result. At the end of it all I had a clean car. I had a car that I could be proud of again. I no longer was embarrassed of the mess because there was no mess, no more junk.

Shortly after this particular incident I realized that my car symbolized my life before Christ. It was filled with junk, things I was not proud of but things I had done to myself. Instead of just asking for forgiveness I just put it in the trunk and forgot about it. However, God never forgot about it and He convicted me to clean my life out. But not just taking it out and putting it in a pile but really putting things in their place once and for all. The result was kind of the same as it was with the car. I could be happy and proud that through the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross I had a clean life.

Is your car dirty? Now, let's get a little more personal, what about your life? If so don't go another minute without receiving the gift of freedom. It is freedom from the worry and guilt of sin. It may take some hard work in regards to settling that sin, but trust me it will be worth it. Allow yourself to take some time to see if trash has collected in your life, maybe it has been in the trunk for years. If so, call on Jesus to forgive you and turn from that sin. I once heard that admitting sin is not the same as quitting sin. You can admit it all day long but if you don't make a point to quit it will never go away. It is an indescribable feeling to have a clean life (and car). I hope you will take the time to reevaluate your commitment to Christ and examine your life based on the ten commandments. I believe we will all see that we have some cleaning to do.

Personal Prayer Focus: Pray that God will forgive you of known sins, give you a clean heart, and renew your spirit to serve Him wholeheartedly.

On The Go Prayer Focus: The Interns who faithfully come to On The Go each year to work for Christ and learn how to do ministry that matters for the kingdom of God.

The Big Question - Why?

The Big Question - Why? by Keith Cook

"And He said to them. Why is it that you were looking for Me? Did you not know that I had to be in My Father's house?"  Luke 2:49

Do you know what the Bible records as Jesus' first spoken word? You would think it would be something inspiring or theologically deep. Actually, the first word spoken by young Jesus was the simple word - "Why". Jesus used a word that verbalizes the question so many of us often ask. Why? He was asking His parents why they were so troubled with Him? Life is full of questions with seemingly very few quality answers.

Here are some questions we may be asking.

Why should I or why didn't you?

Maybe even - why not?

These are all valid questions that may be running through your mind right now. Let's look at each of these questions in regard to our Christian service.

A common question is why should I, or why should anyone, spend time and effort to minister cross culturally and evangelistically? Some say, you can serve God at home just as well as on a project. But truthfully, they rarely do! The reason you should serve God with your whole heart is because He served you at the Cross and followed through with His resurrection. We should endure whatever it takes to go the extra mile for Christ sake; after all, He went all the way for us!

Another question one may ask is why didn't you? We can always look around and ask ourselves why someone didn't serve us better or treat us kinder or even appreciate us as highly as another. This is a terrible trap to fall into. Jesus could have left us all high and dry at the Cross. What if Jesus had said, they should have known better than to treat me this way? What if Jesus had repaid the Jews and Romans for their treachery toward Him? He could have come down from the Cross and refused to suffer for such unappreciative people. But He did not look to others in order to serve His Father. He looked to His God given mission and call in life.

Another question that may arise is why not? Why not relax and take it easy and let someone else do all the work? Why not stop a little early and maybe even stay in and rest? We all know that this is not a true disciple's attitude. We must ask ourselves why not climb one more mountain or leap over one more wall? God may be asking the same question...Yes, my child, why not?

Personal Prayer Focus: Lord Jesus, thank you for not asking why when your Father sent you to die on the cross for me.

On The Go Prayer Focus: All the Ministry Partners, Missions, Missionaries that On The Go ministers with. It takes team work to make the dream of reaching the world a reality.

Getting Fit and Staying Fit

Getting Fit and Staying Fit by Joan Cook

"Thy word have I hid in my heart that I might not sin against thee" Psalm 119:11

1.  It is impossible for us to live a Spirit filled life without being connected to Christ and spending daily time with Him.

(We can talk about being in shape all the time, but unless we are actually working out and eating right, it's all just talk.)

2.  We must be full of God's Word

("But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear: " 1 Peter 3:15)

3.  Be in constant prayer - listening for God to speak

(Communication is essential!  It's like having an electrical outlet in your home, but never plugging anything in it.  The power is there if you need it, but you have to plug in!)

4.  Surrender control to the Holy Spirit and allow Him to use you to help, bless, and encourage others.

(It's ALL about HIM and what HE is leading YOU to do.  Listen and be obedient!)

REMEMBER, We don't train for a race only to go sit on the couch and do nothing.  We train so that we can run the race.

Personal Prayer: Pray that God will give you a greater hunger for His Word!

On The Go Prayer Focus: On The Go's "Adopt An Evangelist" program. This program provides funding and support for various missions and evangelists around the world. Keith and Joan will both be leading workshops this week at the Amplify Conference and networking with other evangelists, musicians, artists, and their spouses. Pray for guidance, leadership, and sensitivity as they minister this week in Chicago, Illinois.

Prayer Warrior (Enabler)

Prayer Warrior (Enabler) - by Laurie McTier

News Event: The Amplify Conference hosted by the Luis Palau Association and the Next Generation Alliance will be meeting in Chicago, Illinois on June 26-28, 2018.

And it came to pass, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed: and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed. But Moses' hands were heavy; and they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat thereon; and Aaron and Hur stayed up his hands, the one on the one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun. Exodus 17:11-12

When I think of prayer, I immediately think of the word "Power". As we pray God reveals Himself to us and enables us to see the world through His eyes. God has been showing me recently that there are two branches of prayer. The first one is where Christians come before God and present their requests unto Him. But there is a second branch through which God reveals Himself to us...He longs to communicate with us and show us His character so that we can be examples of Christ to the world around us.

On a recent mission team, I served many roles, one of which was the photographer for the team. One afternoon we worked with a local church and held neighborhood outreaches in about six different areas of the community. In the last area where we worked, there was a soccer field right behind the park where we were sharing. When we arrived there were about twenty guys playing soccer. We held two drama presentations in the same spot, one geared to the children and one to the youth.

During the children's presentation, the soccer game continued and the guys became loud at times. However, during the youth presentation, I noticed that the soccer team had been divided up. Half of the guys were now sitting down trying to listen to the Gospel and half of them were trying to coerce the rest to come play ball.

God impressed upon my heart to begin walking toward the soccer field.  As I walked toward the edge of the field, near where half of the team was sitting down, I began to sense that God wanted me to intercede for the team, especially for the soccer players that they would not be distracted from hearing truth of God's love. Within less than five minutes, I began to look around. The rest of the soccer players had left the field. Some were also listening to the Gospel presentation and the rest of the guys had gone home.  I praise God for the ten to fifteen soccer players who prayed to receive Christ that afternoon.

God taught me many things through this illustration. As you work for God in whatever way He leads you, God will give you various roles and responsibilities. Some of us may not be able to stand up before one thousand people and preach or share our testimony, but each of us can pray for the individuals to whom we are ministering to that they might be receptive to the Gospel and that all obstacles will be removed.

I am reminded of Aaron and Hur in today's scripture reference. Moses and the children of Israel were at war with the Amalekites. Moses had sent Joshua and the army down to fight and now they were weary and about to lose the battle. Moses sought God on their behalf and could no longer hold up the fort. Aaron and Hur stepped up to the plate and held up Moses arms before God. The Israelites were victorious and each man served a vital role in the victory.

Personal Prayer Focus: Praise God for intercessory prayer. Stand in the Gap for someone today.

On The Go Prayer Focus:  Staff and many other evangelists and ministers as they attend the Amplify Conference hosted by Luis Palau's Next Generation Alliance. Pray that God will provide Divine Appointments through workshops, networking opportunities, and seminars. We are the Hands and Feet of Christ.

Key to Spiritual Growth

Key to Spiritual Growth by Joan Cook

As I prepared to speak at a recent conference, I began to contemplate a topic that would benefit the women I would be speaking to: "Feeding the Spirit and not the Flesh." I would like to share with you one of the key points to help you become spiritual strong!

"But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified." 1 Corinthians 9:27

Discipline is of the upmost importance in feeding our spirit. Lack of discipline in one's life can cause our flesh to begin to overpower our spirit.  Paul tells us that we must discipline our bodies and bring them into subjection.  Subjection to what?  To the will of God - the spirit man that lives within each Christian.  Do you want to be spiritually strong? Of course, you do! Here are a few ways that will help you.

1) Be consistent with time you set aside for talking and hearing from God.

"...he knelt down on his knees three times a day, and prayed and gave thanks before his God, as was his custom since early days."  Daniel 6:10

Morning, Noon, Evening. There's not a right or wrong time to meet with God. Find a time that is best for you. Personally, morning is best for me. It helps me start the day off right when I've talked with God.  It sets the tone for my day!

2) Have a specific place set for your devotional time.

Make a place that is where you commune with God.  I suggest you do this so that your time is planned and not "up in the air".  My special place is a comfortable chair in my living room.

3) Start by a prayer of thanks and ask God to bless your time.

If you're a parent, you like to hear your child say thanks occasionally and not only come with their hands out asking for something.  The same is true with God.

4) Read The Word. (Example: Devotional Book, Read Bible Through, Psalm and Proverbs, Chapter or Verses in specific Book)

In order to live a Spirit filled life, we must be led by the Spirit. How do we know what God wants us to do? Let the Word speak to you. Logos is referred to in the Bible as the revealed, true, spoken word to everyone. Rhema is a God quickened word...just for you. Mark in your Bible when God speaks to you. Write it down; it will be testimony in the future.

5) Keep a devotional journal. It can be a very useful tool for remembering how God spoke to you.  It will also help you remember how things touched your life and reflect on God's promises at a later date. In your journal, write down prayer requests and then date it. Beside that, write down how your prayers were answered.

I can not tell you how important this has been to me over the years.  I can look back at some of the things God has shown me in His word or in prayer and it encourages me!  It also reminds me of ALL that God has done in the past and I get excited about how He will work through me in the future.

6) Pray.
Praise - Psalm 66, 93, 106
Thanksgiving - Psalm 75, 105
Confession
Appreciation
Chatting
Petition - Matthew 21:22, Ephesians 3:20, James 1:6, Luke 11:9

Chatting is when you simply talk with God about absolutely anything that's on your heart.  After all, He is interested in everything about us and wants us to feel comfortable and close enough to just chat!

7) Meditation. Quiet reflection and an open heart. Be quiet and wait on Holy Spirit to speak.

Personal Prayer Focus: Pray that God will bless, direct, and keep you in the center of His will.

On The Go Prayer Focus: Staff and many other evangelists and ministers as they attend the NGA Palau Connect and Amplify 2018 Conference this week in Illinois. Pray for each evangelist and ministry team in attendance that they will be encouraged, strengthened, and refueled to carry out God's Call!

Answer the Call

Answer the Call by On The Go Staff

Recently, our staff came together and had the opportunity to share with one another how God called each of us into the ministry. It was a joyous time as we reflected on God's call into missions and evangelism and our response to His calling. Today, we would like to share with you some verses from God's Word that we hope will be an encouragement and a challenge to you in your walk and service to God.

"Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not." Jeremiah 33:3

"Speak, LORD; for thy servant heareth." 1 Samuel 3:9

"But if from thence thou shalt seek the LORD thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul." Deuteronomy 4:29

"Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us," Ephesians 3:20

"But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God." 1 Corinthians 2:9,10

"The Lord GOD hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary." Isaiah 50:4

When God calls us, we must obey. As we pray to God, we will never receive a busy signal. He is as close as the mention of His name. On the same regard, we must always be ready to listen to His voice as well. Don't put God on hold.

Seek the Lord and ask Him what He would have for you to do for Him this summer. Make every day and every opportunity count for Christ! God wants to use you; He has a unique plan for your life. He has given each of us the call to fulfill the Great Commission. Answer God's call; seek to share Christ with someone today.

Personal Prayer Focus: Pray that you will honor God this summer as you Seek to make every opportunity count for Christ.

On The Go Prayer Focus: Keith Cook as he ministers this evening services at the Pavillion Praise Robertson County Event. Pray for boldness, sensitivity, and discernment as Keith speaks and that God will draw many hearts to the Gospel of Christ.

The Hawk

The Hawk by Keith Cook

"Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour." 1 Peter 5:8

Recently I saw a hawk sitting on a fence post in my back yard. He looked like a fine creature. He was just staring at me. Finally, after a few minutes, he majestically flew away.

I had never seen a hawk in my yard before and asked my neighbors if they had ever seen one in their yard. They informed me that they had and that it had tried to carry off their puppy but had failed due to the weight.

Wow, I had never dreamed that a hawk was so bold as to try to carry off a dog. It looked so beautiful to me, so innocent and regal sitting on my fence post. Little did I know that those steely eyes and claw like feet were just waiting to snatch up my Yorkshire Terrier..

Now every time the hawk soars above my yard I have a healthy respect for it's plans and power. I watch my dogs, and keep my distance.

The same strategy would also help us deal with the devil. He looks good, sounds good, and often acts good, but is terribly dangerous. It is not wise to spend too much time in his presence.

Just like all sin and temptation - the don't look, don't touch, don't taste strategy would be a wise one to follow. The devil is looking for an opening into your life to harm you and keep you from developing into the mature obedient Christian that Christ would have you be. Be mindful of his strategy and keep a watchful eye open for his lurking around.  Without warning he may pounce into your life and cause all kinds of havoc.

What can you do to be prepared for an attack from the devil?

1. Pray - Pray that God will direct you and protect you from the devil's schemes.

2. Read - Read the word of God to gain insight into the devil's tricks down through the ages and for clues as to how to successfully live the Christian life.

3. Watch - Watch out for traps and tricks of the devil. He is crafty and will lead you down many a dark path if you are not careful.

4. Share - Share your fears, troubles, experiences, and thoughts with other believers. Other Christians can help you navigate the devil's dens. Pastors, Bible teachers, parents and mature believers have been placed in your life to help you live for Jesus and avoid the perils of the devil.

5. Trust - Trust God with every area of your life and never take off on your own and do anything you know is wrong or are not sure if you should.

Do not fear the devil but be aware of his snares. God is greater than any problem or adversary you have - trust Him.

Personal Prayer Focus: Pray for a protective hedge for you and your family from the snares and traps that the devil tries to place in your path. Decide today to be prepared against attacks from the devil by praying, reading, watching, sharing, and trusting.

On The Go Prayer Focus: On The Go's World Outreach Center (WOC). This is our main office and training facility. Pray for God to protect the building, guard the mechanical and structural aspects of the facility, and use the facility for maximum eternal benefits.

Pileated Woodpecker

Pileated Woodpecker by Keith Cook

"And God said, "Let the waters bring forth swarms of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the firmament of the heavens." Genesis 1:20

Recently I have been enjoying watching all the different birds that inhabit my yard. Several months ago I came home and as I was pulling into my driveway there was the most beautiful bird sitting in my parking space. It had a beautiful red head and pointed head. I had never seen such a majestic looking bird in my yard.

I sat there waiting for it to fly away and eventually it did. I was actually sad to see it fly away. Upon getting inside my house I got on the internet and looked up birds and quickly found out that my new acquaintance was in fact a Pileated Woodpecker.  I found out that they seldom are seen and that they rarely are out in the open like this one was on this particular day.

My mind started racing as I thought about the bird and how fantastic it was that I had one in my yard. I went outside and walked around my yard looking to see what other wild birds I could see. As I walked around my yard I started noticing all different kinds of birds. There were Robins, Cardinals, and many other beautiful birds. It was so fun trying to spot and identify all the different kinds of birds that were flying around my back yard.

In our everyday life as a Christian many of us live the same way. We drive home, work, play, live life and never see all that is around us. We miss the spiritual birds that God has all around us. Many of us never see all the blessing of God, His provisions, His Care. We fail to see His warnings or head His signs.

Many times we also fail to see the needs around us and we miss wonderful opportunities, that God has given us, to share our faith with individuals He has strategically and divinely placed in our path. Just like I did not see the birds that were in my yard, we fail to see these spiritual birds that are flying all around us.

Why not take the time to look at the birds in your yard and also time the time to look around and see all God has given you and all that He is showing you. Now is the time to walk, talk, sing, and shout about the goodness of Christ.

Personal Prayer Focus: Take time today to Praise God for the blessings He has given you and the lessons He is showing you. "Be Still and Know that I am God."

On The Go Prayer Focus: The follow-up of inquirers who come publicly and make decisions for Christ, write in for materials to grow in Christ, or who visit our website looking for help in following Christ. Pray for local believers, churches, parents, and friends who all will be used of God to nurture each and every one to maturity in Christ.

Show Me Your Ways

Show Me Your Ways - by Laurie McTier

"Show me your ways, O LORD, teach me your paths; guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Saviour and my hope is in you all day long." Psalms 25:4, 5

The heart cry of men and women in the Old Testament is summed up in the verse listed above. When I think of the true men and women of faith found in the scriptures, they longed to know God and to know His way for their life and their people.

In today's society we are blessed to have the Word of God. How can we know God's heart if we do not spend time with Him through prayer and Bible study? We truly get to know someone by spending time with them. Our walk with God is no different; the more we spend time with our Heavenly Father, the more intimate our relationship becomes.

When I was a teenager, I learned a valuable lesson about the Christian life. I learned there was more to the Christian life than just attending church every time the doors were open. My walk with God began to grow as I read His Word on a daily basis and responded to Him through prayer.

As God provided milk and meat through His Word, I began to grow and to share His blessings with others. When God reveals His will and promises to you, share them with those closest to you. Do not hoard the blessings God gives you because your blessing can be an encouragement to those around you.

Just as God directed and delivered the Children of Israel through the cloud by day and pillar of fire by night, He will show us His way and teach us his path if we truly seek Him. Keep your focus; do not look to the left or the right. Look directly to the Source, abide in Him and He will guide you every step of the way.

Personal Prayer Focus: Pray that God will show you His ways, teach you His paths, guide you in His truth.

On The Go Prayer Focus: Those who need to make decisions for Christ as On The Go and the Keith Cook Team shares the Gospel around the world. Pray that they will hear a clear message about Christ, that the Holy Spirit will move them to a point of decision and that they will be bold enough to publicly respond for Christ.

Thank you for taking the time to pray for this important division of On The Go Ministries. For more information on any our ministries here at On The Go, you may send your questions to info@onthego.org.

A Lady of God

A Lady of God by Keith Cook based on 2 John

I have been around two great ladies most of my life: my mother and my wife. From my mother I have seen unselfish love developed into an art form. From my wife I have seen a heart full of love and a total dedication to her family take priority in every area of her life.

With these two wonderful expressions of "a lady of God," I was amazed when God revealed to me in His Word a vivid picture of what a real lady of God is to be. I immediately thought of my mother and my wife. I am sure you will reflect and immediately think of someone who is a true "lady of God".

LOVED. A lady of God is Loved.

She is loved by God and by all who are walking in the truth of God's Word.

ACCOMPLISHED. A lady of God is Accomplished.

She walks in all God Commands and because of this she receives full rewards from her life and actions.

DISCIPLER. A lady of God is a Discipler.

She trains and molds her children and is a strong and consistent influence to others including her husband, immediate family, peers, and neighbors.

YEARNING. A lady of God is constantly Yearning.

She desires To Love others
To Be An Example to children
To Continue to Walk in all God commands
To Constantly Watch herself
To Never go to far in her remarks, words, deeds, action, attitude, expressions, or love.

If you are a woman, decide today to be a real Lady of God. Help other women you know to grow in their faith and dependence on Christ.

If you are a man, decide to be an encouragement to those ladies you are around to help them be all God wants them to be. Never allow yourself to become a stumbling block in their lives or to steal their joy and giftedness.

Our culture needs to see "A Lady Of God" today!

Personal Prayer Focus: Pray that God will continue to raise up Godly ladies to effectively serve Him. If you are a woman, pray that God will enable you to have a deeper relationship with Him as you are Loved, Accomplished, a Discipler, and Yearning. If you are a man, pray for the ladies God has placed in your life that have had a godly influence upon your walk with the Lord.

On The Go Prayer Focus: All the local churches, committees, and leaders who will be working with On The Go Ministries and the Keith Cook Team in creative outreach efforts in the United States and around the world.

Thank you for taking the time to pray for this important division of On The Go Ministries. For more information on any our ministries here at On The Go, you may send your questions to info@onthego.org.

A Lord Worth Thanking

A Lord Worth Thanking by Keith Cook

"Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; For His lovingkindness is everlasting." Psalm 118:1

Have you ever had a bad boss? Have you ever had to endure a less than motivational teacher? Ever been on a team with a less than stellar teammate? We all have! It is hard to endure such trials and tribulations but when you think of the Lord Jesus Christ, our mindset changes. When you look at the scriptures you can see a great picture of what we have in our Lord and what we are to do because of how great our Lord is. He is a Lord worth thanking!

"Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good"

How hard is it to say thank you? Is it hard for you to give someone other than yourself credit for a blessing, talent, or reward? God is reminding us in His Word to give thanks to the real Lord to whom thanks is due.

What are you thankful to the Lord for?

Be thankful for good health.
Praise God that He has granted you great happiness.
Many are blessed with wonderful financial success.
Most can say that the blessings of God are so rich and full right now.

These are all good things to have but what if they were to all go away.

What would you do if your health was bad or one of your children came down with a sickness that was serious? Would you still have reason to thank the Lord? What if you became burdened by the sin sick society around you and the happiness you once found on the golf course or at the mall no longer brought you joy. Would you still have reason to be thankful to the Lord? If the price of gas brings down your profits and the stock market takes a plunge, or your position get terminated at work, could you still find reason to be thankful in the Lord?

Is health, happiness, success, blessings required from God in order for you to be thankful?

For the Christian nothing can separate us from the love of God and nothing should be able to keep us from being thankful to God for what He is to us! He is a Lord worth thanking.

"For His lovingkindness is everlasting."

The Bible says we are to be thankful for His lovingkindness. The word lovingkindness can also mean mercy, love that is steadfast, compassion, or even the goodness of God.

When we are truly thankful to God we are faithfully and honestly choosing to believe that God is showing mercy towards us and is lovingly thinking of our needs, desires, and situation. When we are truly thankful, we are trusting in Him to take care of all we really need.

Being thankful to our Lord means:

1. That we are not demanding of God certain riches or proofs that He is loving and caring for us.

2. That we are not going to stop thanking God or serving God if we do not get our way or will in certain situations in our lives.

3. That we will honor God with giving Him credit and praise for all the provisions He makes on our behalf. In order to do this we have to see what He is doing in every situation. The only way to see and know this is to see and know Him. You do this in prayer and study of His Word.

4. Trusting God when we go through the hard situations and the times in life that make no sense.

5. We thank God in public and private. We share with the Lord in prayer and praise our thankfulness and we share with others how grateful and thankful we are for His mercy and provision.

Personal Prayer Focus: Take a few moments to day to reflect on the lovingkindness of God towards you in Christ. Because of Christ coming into your life and providing salvation, security, and stability you have reason to be thankful. Make sure God knows just how thankful you are.

Close Encounters

Close Encounters by Keith Cook

"Bear one another's burdens, and thus fulfill the law of Christ. For each one shall bear his own load." Galatians 6:2, 5

A close encounter implies coming along side another person with the intention to help bear their burden and not leave them or quit until the task is done. Everyday you come in contact with children, church leaders, lost people, coworkers, relatives, and friends! You can have numerous close encounters.

When you help someone you share a part of yourself. You give your time, talents, love and energy to help them succeed or live as God would have them live.

When you give encouragement to another Christian you also share in the rewards of their service and efforts. These blessings are not always obvious to an outsider, but in your heart you will receive joy and satisfaction in being used by God to help another. Sometimes the Lord will even let you see positive, obvious, tangible results of your service.

If you have looked with the eyes of love then God has shown you some people you need to come alongside to help them bear their burdens. You are called to take the time and make the effort to meet the physical, mental and spiritual needs of those you have come in contact with.

As you desire a closer relationship with Jesus, you will also desire to come close with those He brings across your path.

Close encounter list: (List the individuals God has placed on your heart)

1.
2.
3.
4.
5.

After you make your list ask God what He would have you do to help, encourage or simply comfort each of those on your list.

Personal Prayer Focus: Pray that God will give you courage and the opportunity to share your faith in Christ. Pray for believers all around the world as they seek out opportunities to share their faith.

On The Go Prayer Focus: The 30 Minute Radio & Podcast Program "On The Go with Keith Cook". This is a weekly program airing over the internet, short wave, and radio stations. From a Father's Heart

From a Father's Heart by Keith Cook

"As water reflects a face, so a man's heart reflects the man." Proverbs 27:19

A father knows what is in the heart of his children just like Jesus knows what is in the heart of each of us. When you live with someone and you actually take the time to listen and experience that person. You can really pickup on their heart and dreams.

Growing up with my son, I have noticed a few things about him and about me.

He listens to me
He likes me
He wants protection and wisdom from me
He wants to please me
He wants to be free to do more than me

He wants friends to be real friends
He wants to have fun
He wants to be successful in life
He wants to find a Godly wife one day
He wants to devotionally meet God each day
He wants to serve God with his life

How do I know these things? I am his dad! He is my son. I am in his life. He is in my life.

God knows you. He knows your dreams and desires. He knows what you want and need. He is there with you each step of the way. He is saying to the angels..."Look at my son/daughter!"

As an international evangelist, often times I had the privilege and opportunity to minister with my son. I am so proud of him. He has the Lord Jesus Christ in every area of his life. As he ministers through the word and in song, he does so with such conviction and understanding. He has the compassion of Christ as well as the determination to do ministry right. Keith, I love being your dad.

Personal Prayer Focus: Pray for all of our sons and daughters and our relationships with them. (You can pray for moms and dads too!)

On The Go Prayer Focus: On The Go's Outreach Training Schools (OTS). In our OTS, young people and adults are trained to go to the next level in their service to God. Pray for On The Go as we train believers to make a difference in their generation.

Follow Christ's Example

Follow Christ's Example By Carey Smith

"Then little children were brought to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples rebuked those who brought them. Jesus said, 'Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.' When he had placed his hands on them, he went on from there." Matthew 19:13-15

For those of you who know me, you know that I enjoy playing with children. At times it is hard to keep up with their energy, as many parents will testify, but nothing compares to their giggles as they tackle me, or their laughter as I chase them.

I grew up as the individual that everyone teased, picked on, and made fun of. For years, the only people I believed actually liked me were my parents. As I got a little older, I began to hear about Jesus who scolded His adult disciples for not allowing the children to come to Him. He would use children as the example to His disciples when they asked Him how they should live and behave.

For years, I knew that my mom, my dad, and Jesus loved me. Their love got me through many tough years, and even though I knew they loved me, it would have been great if another person had showed me that kind of love.

That is why today, as an adult, I try to let every child know that they are important to me. I want them to feel that I love them, care for them, and have fun playing with them. I want them to know that even if they feel that no one else cares for them, I do. And why do I love them, because Jesus does.

Do you want to be like Jesus? Love the children. Love them by being a listening ear, a jungle gym, and yes, even a diaper changer. Who knows, there may be one child who feels lost and alone, but your smile and compassion can change that.

Personal Prayer Focus: Pray today that your life and ministry can make a difference in the life of a child.

Our Source of Strength

Our Source of Strength - Joan Cook

"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Philippians 4:13

Our family has had Yorkshire Terriers for many years. They are very small dogs, weighing around four pounds each. One of our dogs, Mindy did not see herself as small and would fight to protect our family and her territory. Often times, Mindy fought with our neighbor's Chow and Golden Retriever only to learn that she did not have the power behind her bark. She always retreated to the familiar territory of our front porch.

As Christians, the devil wants nothing more than to have us retreat from our battles and to think that we are not powerful enough. And, alone we are not! Unlike my little dog who barked loudly, then ran home at any sign of trouble, we can stand and face our foe with confidence knowing that our Lord is there helping us through our battle.

How much strength do you need today? Are you facing a situation that you do not think you can handle? Is there a problem in your life that seems insurmountable?

Then you need to go directly to your source of strength! Jesus will give you His might and power to be able to withstand anything, to be able to do anything, to be able to be anything! Jesus said that we could do greater works than even He did! That is pretty incredible!

If you want to start living the victorious Christian life and stop allowing Satan to defeat you into thinking you are not strong enough, good enough, smart enough, rich enough, or even thin enough, tap into His power source and be all you can be for Christ! Remember, YOU can do all things through Christ who strengthens YOU!

Personal Prayer Focus: Pray that God will forgive you for often times trying to live the Christian life in your own strength. Praise God that you that you can do all things through His strength.

On The Go Prayer Focus: Kenya GoTeam. Praise God for each individual decision for Ch

Faithfulness

Faithfulness by Joan Cook

"If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself." 1 Timothy 2:13

Have you ever said or done something and then wished you could take it back? I know I have. I constantly get to dine on shoe pie because I put my foot in my mouth. Just when I think I have my life all together, and pat myself on the back for being such a wonderful person, I fail miserably.

I may have missed an opportunity to share Christ with someone, or lost my patience and said something in an angry tone of voice to a friend. I might have intended on reading my Bible every morning, but when I went to bed at night I've realized that once again my day has been too busy for my Heavenly Father.

Even in all of these things and in the ways that I constantly do not measure up to be the person I know Christ wants me to be, I am encouraged by Paul's writing in 1 Timothy 2:13. Even when we are faithless and do not portray a positive image of our Lord, He remains faithful to us.

Do all that you know to do in Christ, but make note of this: When you fall down in your Christian walk, Christ will be there for you and pick you up.

Remember: He is always a faithful God!

Personal Prayer Focus: Praise God for your faithfulness.

On The Go Prayer Focus: Keith Cook's Hands-On-Training Events. This is our Outreach Training School on the road. Keith and the On The Go Team share all across the USA and Worldwide in fun and creative ways that people can serve Jesus and make an impact in this generation!

God Watches Over His Own

God Watches Over His Own - by Heidi Chapman Beall

"The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore." Psalms 121:7, 8

I was searching through the Bible one morning seeking a passage to read. Then I came across a "help page". It stated, "When you leave home for labor or travel, read Psalms 121." So, I gave it a try and as I read I just knew I'd found the perfect Psalm for those long travel days on mission trips or vacations. It says that He will not slumber nor sleep as He watches over you, and believe me, that is a major comfort while on a trip. He watches over you as you travel, and He is always there to call upon.

God keeps you from all harm and will never let you down. So when those moments come when you do not think you will make it through, just read Psalms 121 and call upon the Lord! He will be there for you!

I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth. He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber.

Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand. The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night.

The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.

What is Purity?

What is Purity? by Keith Cook

"Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things." Philippians 4:8

As Christians we have a higher call on our lives. At the time we give our lives to Christ that escalates us to a level different from that of non-Christians. The world is watching Christians and we often fail them. Some of us daily!

We are called to live our lives as an expression of Christ's life. If we as Christians do not live our lives as a testimony and example, how then should we expect others to want a relationship with Christ.

A large problem with our society is the fact that they do not live pure lives. Contrary to popular belief there are consequences for our actions today. So we are faced with the question, "What is Christian purity?

The Bible lays out many guidelines for Christians. However, we must individually live pure. That means at times we're going to have to make a conscious decision to live out our purity. At times it may be very hard.

Peer Pressure is not something that you only face as a teenager. All throughout life people will contribute to your decision making process in a negative or positive way.

There is no better time than today to make a commitment for purity in your life. Not just sexual purity but Christian purity. Living your life in purity is the best testimony you could ever have.

1) What are some requirements concerning purity that your culture has imposed on you?

2) What are some of your Christian requirements/standards concerning purity?

Personal Prayer Focus: Pray that God will guard your heart as you  to live out your Christian faith based on personal convictions and the truth from God's Word.

On The Go Prayer Focus: GoTeam Missions Projects. Pray today for On The Go's GoTeams. GoTeams are teams of young people and adults ministering throughout the world who want to make an impact in another individual's life for Christ.

On The Go Prayer Focus: On The Go's Neighborhood Outreach Program. In reality, very little is being done to reach people in many communities across the USA. On The Go is striving to train local Christians and help them develop programs that can systematically and permanently reach real needs in their neighborhoods.

Titanic, the Unsinkable Ship

Titanic, the Unsinkable Ship by Laurie McTier

"I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No man comes unto the Father, but by me." John 14:6

How many people have dreamed their lives unsinkable?

How many have stated that even God Himself could not destroy their empire?

How many people find their treasures in worldly riches, fame and success, yet never take the time to find God? What emptiness they must feel deep down inside!

While watching the movie Titanic, my heart was moved by the numerous people who did not make it to the lifeboats. There were approximately 2,200 people on the ship, yet only 800 got on the lifeboats. Out of the 1,400 people who went down with the ship, only 6 individuals were rescued.

There were 20 lifeboats, which should have fit 30-50 people each, yet many only had 10-15 people in them. The lifeboats proved to be too cramped to fit their style. None of the 20 boats turned around to rescue the perishing. One of the lifeboats from the Carpathia did return to the 1,400 but it was too late. There were only six survivors by that time. The other 1,396 froze to death in the North Atlantic.

What application could this story have in our lives? How many of us have greedily thought our lives unsinkable? What fools we have been! What about souls today, the individuals who have not found the "Lifeboat?" Would you change your course to help them find their lifeboat - Jesus Christ? John 14:6 reads "I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No man comes unto the Father, but by me."

Devotion and commitment. The band played "Nearer My God to Thee" right to the very end. They had a job to entertain to the very end. What is our job? It is our job to rescue the perishing...to tell them of a Savior who loves them so much He willingly gave His life for them.

God forgive me for the times I have seen souls perishing in the depths of their sin and have not even lifted a finger to tell them of Christ's love. As I read the words to Fanny J Crosby's hymn entitled "Rescue the perishing," my heart is convicted that I must by about my Father's business of the Great Commission.

"Rescue the Perishing, care for the dying
Wrap them in pity from sin and the grave.
Weep over the erring one, lift up the fallen.
Tell them of Jesus the mighty to save.
Rescue the perishing, care for the dying
Jesus is merciful. Jesus will save."

Personal Prayer Focus: Pray that God will give you a burden and urgency in your heart to rescue the perishing, that they might not die alone, but that they may have hope in Jesus Christ.

On The Go Prayer Focus: The physical, spiritual, emotional, and financial needs of people hurting all over the United States and Worldwide. As God gives us opportunity in times of crisis we need to rapidly move to help.

Boldly Proclaiming Jesus

Boldly Proclaiming Jesus by Keith Cook

"Boldly and without hindrance he preached the kingdom of God and taught about the Lord Jesus Christ." Acts 28:31

What makes a person bold? Does Christ want only Superman and Wonder Woman type Christians to follow Him into battle against Satan?

True boldness is "Holy Boldness". Holy Boldness comes when one is trusting in Christ for strength.

When I stand up in the streets to preach, I must admit, each time I am just a little bit afraid. I wonder if I will preach the right thing. I fear that someone might try to stop me from preaching, and the list can go on and on. I have a choice to make at that moment. Do I let my fear and natural inferiority complex take over, or do I rely on God's call on my life and His promise to be with me as I serve Him?

Boldness is not automatic or continual. As I face a new situation I must call on Christ for guidance. He always gives me the right words to say, He shows me what to do and He blesses as I step out in faith and trust in Him.

He will do the same thing for you. It may take "baby steps" or you may go out with "fear and trembling," but you will be riding the waves of God's perfect will for your life out in the deep water.

It sure is fun to be out there with God. Few people are willing to go.

The Bible says not to worry, just be ready. "Having done all you can do to Stand, Stand!"

1. What are some areas that often cause you to be afraid when you think about serving God?

2. What do you plan to do the next time fear tries to rob you of your power and opportunity to serve God?

3. If you had all the power you needed to do anything for God what would you do or attempt? Why? Why NOT?

Personal Prayer Focus: Pray for Holy Boldness. Pray that you will be all that you can be for Jesus Christ.

On The Go Prayer Focus: On The Go's GoKids Clubs. The focus of GoKids Clubs is to present a clear Gospel message to young children in our festivals, missions, and local neighborhoods. Pray for On The Go as we minister to boys and girls and share with them the love of Jesus Christ.

Assurance of Heaven

Assurance of Heaven by Dr. Ken Mattox, DDS

"However, as it is written: 'No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him.'"  1 Corinthians 2:9

Dr. R. G. Lee was one of the most powerful preachers I have ever heard. The first time I heard him preach, I felt the conviction that I should renew my vows to the Lord Jesus Christ. His delivery, his vocabulary, and his sermons were just spell bounding.

Dr. Lee was up early in the morning and tried to visit at least six people before lunch and tell them about Jesus. Dr. Lee wasted no opportunity to preach against the evil of sin. He walked into a fraternity house one night as they were having one of their drunken parties. Dr. Lee preached a sermon right there on the spot, and another one on Sunday. Because of his heart for evangelism, Dr. Lee averaged baptizing five people every Sunday throughout his ministry. As his life was drawing close to an end, he began to share with those closest to him some of the visions he was seeing. Although he had written a book about Heaven, his exact words were, "I never even came close!"

God has promised us that Jesus Christ is the way, the truth, and the life. If we place our faith and trust in Him, we will never perish; God has already given to us eternal life. God is preparing for us a home in Heaven. Our minds can not even conceive the greatness of His glory and all that He has in store for us.

In John 14:1-3, 6, we read the following: "'Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.' Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.'"

The gift of eternal life is the greatest gift that anyone can receive. Heaven is a wonderful place, prepared by a loving Father for His children. Live your life today with a heavenly mindset. As you proceed through the path of life today, may God open your eyes to opportunities to share about Jesus.

(This devotion was taken as an excerpt with permission from Dr. Mattox's latest book entitled "A Light in the Darkness". This book contains scripture references that have impacted Dr. Mattox's life and illustrations from some of experiences on the mission field. To receive your own personal copy of his book, please contact On The Go Ministries. Dr. Mattox went home to Heaven in October, 2006. He has been such a blessing to all of us fortunate to know and minister with him. Thank you Dr. Mattox!)

Sisters

Sisters - by Keith Cook

"Say to wisdom, 'You are my sister,' and call understanding your intimate friend;" Proverbs 7:4

God wants us to call wisdom our sister but what kind of wisdom can we gain from a sister?

When I was a young boy my father bought my sister and I a brand new swing set. It was a real prize. I was so proud of that new swing set; I was very controlling over it too.

One day my sister wanted to swing on the metal swing called the seesaw. She was scared to swing on the other swings. But on the seesaw she could hold onto the metal bar that attached to the swing frame.

As she was coming near the swing, I, without much thought, ran past her very abruptly and pushed the seesaw at her. As the seesaw went hurling towards my sister, my mind quickly discerned that I had initiated a very bad situation. Every fiber of my being went numb because I could not stop what I had set in motion. My fears became reality, as I watched the metal seat hit her in the face, causing a large gash. I was shocked. I thought I had killed her.

My mother rushed her to the hospital. The doctor did a great job sewing her up but the scars I had would never heal. I felt bad. I felt like a brute. I could not forgive myself for such a careless gesture.

For days after the accident my sister received my "super boy" efforts to make everything up to her. However, sisters have a way of taking advantage of brothers. They do this not by strength or meanness, but by kindness and tenderness. Most guys are unprepared for kindness. My sister kept being nice and assuring me she was fine and felt no pain. In the mean time, she was asking me to go get this or to please turn on her favorite cartoon. She was very good at getting back at me!

After a while, life got back to normal but inside my mind and heart I had learned a valuable lesson. Even though sisters can be different, they sure are a gift from God. It is such a blessing when you realize that your sibling has been a best friend, long before you knew you needed a friend. So wisdom really is "My Sister!"

Personal Prayer Focus: Pray the God will continually give you wisdom and understanding.

Investment and Trust

Investment and Trust by Carey Smith

"Jesus answered, 'If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.' When the young man heard this, he went away sad, because he had great wealth." Matthew 19:21-22

There are so many lessons that we can learn from this story.  The rich young ruler wants eternal life and he knows he can get it from Jesus.  But Jesus asks something very difficult of the man and the man is unable to give it.

I have worked in the financial industry for many years and one thing I have learned is that when people go to a financial advisor, they are in essence saying to the person, "I believe you can do a better job than I can."  Why can the Advisor do a better job?  Is it their experience or knowledge?  Whatever the reason, when you invest with them, you are trusting them to do a better job than you.

How are you with Jesus?  Have you trusted Him with your life or just the burden of your sin?  The rich young ruler may never have understood what he was missing.  Jesus was asking for his life, not a token of his appreciation to receive Jesus' eternal gift.  Jesus knows he can manage our lives better than we can.

I admit that I daily need to trust and believe Jesus is a better manager than I am.  He can manage my child, my marriage, my job, and certainly my finances better than I can.  Recently, or in the near future, some of us will be receiving monetary stimulus packages from the government.  I wonder what would happen if we decided to turn that over to Jesus and let Him manage it.  Just a thought.

Personal Prayer Focus: Yield every area of your life to God. Allow Him to be your personal manager.

On The Go Prayer Focus: On The GoAudio Podcasts and Radio Ministries. Currently we are producing various programs which go over the internet and international airwaves. What Is Real Salvation

What Is Real Salvation by Keith Cook

"But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him." 1 Corinthians 8:6

Yesterday, we discussed Fake Salvation and what Salvation is not. Today, we will look at what true salvation in Christ really is.

Saving faith, true belief, and real salvation come from putting your trust and confidence in Jesus. Then you ask Jesus to pay the penalty and forgive you of your sin. Next you receive, by faith, your free gift of an eternal home in Heaven and God's provision of strength and guidance while living on Earth. All this can be yours! Right Now!

The Devil will never give in to God's will, but you can. You can come to Jesus for the right reason. You don't have to play a game with God. You don't have to pretend to be a Christian; you can really know you are a Child of God.

Right now you can pray and ask Jesus to come into your heart (whole life). The choice is yours. Decide today. Don't wait any longer. Your prayer can be something like this:

Dear God, I am sorry for my sin. I cannot save myself. Jesus you died for me on the cross. I believe you are God. Come into my heart and save me today. I will live by your power. Give me courage and strength to live for you. Fill me with your Holy Spirit. Thank you for taking me to Heaven when I die.

When one prays a prayer like the one above with a genuine desire for Christ to be their Saviour, the Bible says, "Whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved!"

If you have prayed and asked Jesus to come into your heart (life) the Bible says He did. I would suggest you immediately contact a person you know is a genuine Christian and ask them to help you learn more about your new life in Christ. You may want to call a local pastor.

Your new life will include Bible study, prayer on a daily basis, regular church attendance, and sharing your own love for Jesus with others.

Learning and growing in Christ is something we should be experiencing all the time. Don't be ashamed to ask for help from a local church, a minister, or another Christian.

I thank God for your decision and want to hear from you. I would love to send you some material on how to live for Jesus! For spiritual help or information write, email, visit our web site, or contact a local church in your area. May Christ continue to bless and keep you in the center of His will.

Personal Prayer Focus: Praise God for His Provision of Eternal Life to those who place their trust in Him. Pray for New Believers as they seek to Grow in their Christian life.

Fake Salvation

Fake Salvation by Keith Cook

"But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him." 1 Corinthians 8:6

In survey after survey the majority of people in North America say that they believe in God and want to go to Heaven when they die? There are not many people who want to go to Hell and spend eternity (forever) without God!

Fake Salvation Is Coming To Jesus To Escape Hell

Jesus said, "If anyone wishes to come after me..." Surely Jesus knows that people want to come to Him and have peace with God and receive life forever. Why would He have to say that?  Jesus may have said this to show that there is a vast difference between wanting to escape Hell and really wanting to come to Him.

Jesus wanted people to come to Him because they were choosing to be His people, not just for eternal fire insurance to keep them out of Hell. There are many people who are scared to death of Hell and dying. All you have to do to get them to say they trust Jesus is to talk about Hell. Jesus would say this is not coming to Him. This example would represent running away from Hell, not coming to Jesus. There is a big difference.

Fake Salvation Is Coming To Jesus Because It Is Popular

Many people come to Jesus because it is the popular thing to do. People often say they are born again in order to gain favor or approval from someone. When I was in high school, most of the guys soon learned that if they wanted to date the "popular" girls, they had to go to church. So, every Sunday morning all the hung over, love sick guys were in church. Many a young woman was tricked into thinking "Mr. Right" was right, on the basis of a false commitment.

Religion is big business these days. Every major shopping center has a Christian bookstore and most metropolitan areas have Christian radio and T.V. stations. The Good News is popular. The sad thing about a real commitment to Jesus is that it is not really going to be a popular thing for long.

After I was saved, my entire vocabulary changed, my friends changed, along with my old habits. I went through a very dry spell as far as popularity was concerned. If my faith had been built on being popular, I would have dropped out, proving my commitment was not real.

Fake Salvation Is Coming To Jesus To Get Something

Some people make promises with God while in the middle of tragic and difficult situations. This often happens when they are financially burdened or when they are suffering physically. I have even heard some people say they "got saved" in order to have God bless them financially or heal their bodies. Some prosperity gospel teachers and hyper-healers fuel this practice, not the Bible! This is an example of coming to Jesus, just to get something.

Fake Salvation Is Coming To Jesus To Get Someone Off Their Back

Many young people say they are saved just to get their mother or grandma off their back. Wayward spouses often try this! When someone makes a false commitment they may get people off their back, but they inherit a heavy sense of guilt. Deep inside their spirit they know they are no better off. God knows that this is a fake decision and He does not live in them. A person who dies in this state does not have a place prepared for them in Heaven.

Fake Salvation Is Coming To Jesus Without Forsaking False God's

In the Orient, some people will say they want Jesus to come into their lives and they say they accept Him. What they actually do is accept Jesus along with other gods like Mohammed, Buddha, Confucius, etc... All they have done is add another god to their list. They do not want to offend our God. In our culture, some people who think they are born from above are really not because all they have done is tack Jesus onto materialism, humanism, legalism, and countless other gods. They say they owe Jesus. Yet they never talk about Him because they are embarrassed. They sing about how great it is to be a Christian, but they will not take a stand on moral issues. They say "times have changed" and we need to be culturally sensitive. They are still holding on to other "gods."

Easy Believism Is Fake Salvation

All these shallow examples of "easy believism" will not change a person's life. Their lives are not built on the solid rock, Jesus, but on sinking sand, religion. This kind of faith will not hold up in crisis times. The real power of Christianity is Jesus and He will not come in and share a vessel with any other doctrine or religion: not humanism, legalism, materialism, or moral living.

All of these reasons for coming to Jesus are wrong, and in reality, they are not coming to Jesus at all. If you personally have come to Jesus by any road other than that of the Cross, through His shed blood, because of your sinful, helpless condition, then you are still lost and on a one-way street that leads straight to Hell itself. Jesus is your only way out!

Take The Fake Salvation Test

I want you to take a test. Now my son, Keith Jr., has a fantastic mind and he can memorize and recite long passages of facts he has gleaned from books. He really likes tests - he is just like his mother. I, on the other hand, hate tests. But it won't take a rocket scientist to pass my little quiz.

My test only has three questions:
1. Do you believe in Jesus?
2. Do you believe in the Bible as the Word of God?
3. Do you believe going to church is a good idea?

Now think with me. How did you answer these questions? You probably said yes to all three. Well I've got news for you. You just passed the "Devil Test." You could be in the same condition as the Devil, because the Devil believes, just like the majority of people living today believe. Let me explain. The Devil believes in Jesus! He knows Jesus is the Son of God. The Devil knows the Bible is the Word of God. He probably can quote great amounts of scripture! He also goes to church. He sends his demons regularly. So what makes the kind of belief you have any different from the Devil's?

Tomorrow, we will share about Real Salvation, and discuss true saving faith in Christ.

Personal Prayer Focus: Pray fervently for the lost who are deceived and holding onto "Fake Salvation". Pray that God will convict and challenge their hearts and that they will put their faith in Jesus Christ, the author and finisher of our faith.

On The Go Prayer Focus:  On The Go Prayer Focus: Joan Cook's "Women On The Go" Ministries. Joan's "Women On The Go" programs are implemented at women's conferences, local churches, retreats, and separate stand-alone events. God has given her a burden to minister to and encourage women in their walk with the Lord. Pray for Joan as she ministers and shares from her heart and as she presents motivational, evangelistic programs, materials, and leadership to and for women that will challenge and motivate them to a deeper walk with the Lord.

Thank you for taking the time to pray for this important division of On The Go Ministries. For more information on any our ministries here at On The Go, you may send your questions to info@onthego.org.
