Change Your World Through Prayer Part 2

Change Your World Through Prayer Part 2 By Keith Cook

"Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints" Ephesians 6:18

For the past three days, we have been sharing the importance of Strategic Points Prayer and how you can change your world through prayer. If you want to do something at the end of the year that can affect your neighborhood or a needy neighborhood that God has put on you heart then On The Go's Strategic Points Prayer shows you how you can change your world through Prayer!

The following can be done at each site or pick a different emphasis for each site! You can pick one for each of the four sites and have a different family or team member lead at each site. At the sites:

1. Pray for the Lost

2. Pray for Churches & those doing Good in the area

3. Pray against Sin - Strongholds - Satan

4. Pray for the Team

Strategic Prayer Observations Notes

Below is a Strategic Points Prayer Observations Card. You can use this card or even a simple note card to record your prayer observations. Listed below are some hints for using this method correctly.

1. Don't force yourself to "get" observations and ideas.

2. Relax and pray.

3. When God speaks to your heart right down very quickly the key ideas and simple notes to remind you of what He is saying to you. Then when you have time you can expand on what you have written down.

4. Don't be afraid to share your thoughts with the group.

5. Listen as God speaks to your heart and mind.

6. Listen as others share and voice their observations.

7. After your outreach is over remember to pray about your observations and to follow through on any action steps God has given you.

8. Meditate and reflect on any scriptures that God has given you while praying.

9. Make a copy of your Strategic Prayer Observations and give it to your outreach leaders so they can use what God has given you.

10. You can use several forms or write on the back if you need more room.

The Bible says...

-Record the vision - your prayer insights

-Make it plain - share them with others

-So all who read it can run - run to win them

Let's run to win our world!

Change Your World Through Prayer Part 1

Change Your World Through Prayer Part 1 By Keith Cook

"Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth." Psalms 46:10

"Where there is no vision, the people perish:" Proverbs 29:18

Over twenty years ago, while on a mission project to Mexico, God spoke to my heart about a way for our teams to hear from Him and effectively reach out into needy areas with the message of Christ. He gave me the idea of Strategic Points Prayer. Strategic Points Prayer is praying at key places of need or significance. The entire team prays together using several symbolic expressions of faith and trust in God. These expressions include: holding hands as a sign of unity, raising hands as an act of victory and faith, locking arms as a sign of strength in unity and love, reaching out with hands as an act of delivering God's love and message to the lost.

1. Pray for the Lost - Their need to be saved, open doors, courage to make the right decision - Stretch out hands towards the city, houses, people, and pray for them. We do this as a group; picking several people to vocalize the prayers after a time of group prayer. (Make a line and have people pray with hands reaching out in all directions. Often we form an arrow symbolizing that we are the Lord's Arrow of Victory.)

2. Pray for Churches - Pray for all the ministries trying to make an impact into this area. Those of the past, those working now, and those who need to come in the future. Pray for missionaries, para-church groups, local missions, churches, and etc... (Pray in a circle, holding hands symbolizing unity and trust.)

3. Pray against Sin - Strongholds - Satan - Pray binding the Devil and his schemes, pray for victory over the poverty, indifference, hatred, bigotry, neglect, and sin. (Pray back to back in a circle - symbolizing protection and raise hands in victory as you pray in power!)

4. Pray for the Team - Pray for the outreach projects you are going to implement and for the team you will need to do what God wants you to do. Unity, power, love, courage, wisdom, etc... Include the local workers. Pray in a circle with arms over one another's shoulders symbolizing closeness and bearing one another's burdens. Pray joyfully and with enthusiasm. You will win, you have won because He has already provided the Victory!

Now that you have decided to try something new here are some key observations that can help you and your family or ministry team actually do this ministry activity to start your new year in a spiritual way.

Why Strategic Points Prayer

1. To bind the Devil and expose spiritual strongholds.

2. To unify your family in the outreach or you team that is helping you.

3. To inspire courage and hope.

4. To begin the process of taking back an area for God.

5. To set the focus of the outreach project on God and His power and not the resources and wisdom of man (or the team).

6. To help the team see the total victory that needs to be won: the lost saved, strongholds broken down, church unity stressed, the team needs, strength, etc...

7. Strategic Points Prayer shows clearly that the outreach project is part of a grand process that God has had in motion since the foundation of time.

Strategic Points Prayer Notes

1. This is not prayer walking!

2. Do not be ashamed or afraid to be very vocal, excited and animated. (Raise hands, shout, sing, etc.)

3. Have fun and relax.

4. Pray and listen to God as He speaks to you!

5. Follow the four suggested "Pray For" steps in order.

6. If you go to more than four spots you can have other emphasis at each spot: hospital - sick, government building - leaders, tourist spot - tourists, athletic field - athletes, school - teachers & students, business center - business owners, factory- workers, market - merchants, orphanage - orphans, slums - poor & needy, mall - families.

7. Don't just drive by the sites and pray while moving or while sitting in a vehicle! Get out and get on site! Walk around and get the feel of the site and really seek God's will for your time there.

8. Take your time and do not get in a hurry.

9. After each prayer site ask for key insights, observations, and visions. Write them down and add them to your prayer list.

10. As you go from site to site people may ask what you are doing. Tell them! You may want to invite them to join you.

11. At each site be nice to those around you and you can invite them to join in the prayer time.

12. Forty-five minutes to two hours is plenty of time to cover all sites. Watch out for fatigue and exhaustion!

As you can see, Strategic Prayer is vital in our Christian life and ministry. Tomorrow we will give you some key tools regarding Strategic Point Prayer

Daily Prayer Focus: Lord, Teach us to Pray!

What Does The New Year Hold?

What Does The New Year Hold? by Keith Cook

"We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:" 2 Peter 1:19

If you look to the political realm your new year will be filled with fighting and divisions. Partisan politicians need to be taken to the woodshed and given an old fashion spanking. When a man or woman cannot rejoice at the capture and incarceration of a man who has killed millions something is wrong. Whatever happened to serving those who elect you! Whatever happened to statesmen and world leadership. Liberal and negative hate groups are rising up raising millions of dollars to hurt good men and women who stand up for morals and standards in our country. What a ride we all have in store for us. I personally am recording most of the programs I watch on television so I can fast forward through all the attack adds running. I do not even watch Critical News Network anymore. I go to Christian news sites and check the news every hour and when there is an emergency situation I will usually watch a more fair and balanced newscast. I wish there was a twenty-four hour Christian news channel on Sky-Angel.

If you look at the historians your year will be a year like any other, full of ups, downs, and patterns that repeat themselves from generation to generation. Every year always brings joyous times and sad times. There will be the "agony of defeat" moments, as well as fireworks and celebrations when one of our teams win the "big one". Life will go on. Days will come and go. The hourglass of time will continue to flow. You can count on it.

If you look to your God you will find that He will be the stability of your days! Jesus Christ will be there for you come Democrat or Republican. He will shower you with protection whether you are running for a touchdown or from a terrorist attack. God has a perfect will for your life and His Word encourages you to seek it with all your heart and soul. In this next year strive to stay on focus with Him. Do not go down any of the perilous paths that the Devil places in your path. For 365 days seek to give every moment and opportunity over to the leading of your Lord. This past year is quickly fading away. Why not confess and forsake all the sins, neglects, and prejudices that have invaded your life. You can rise above the natural limitations that you currently live in. With Christ all things are possible if they are in His will and will benefit your life.

Daily Prayer Focus: As you prepare for the new year, pray for new determination to follow His star! Follow Jesus!

On The Go Prayer Focus: The Interns who faithfully come to On The Go each year to work for Christ and learn how to do ministry that matters for the kingdom of God.

Thank you for taking the time to pray for this important division of On The Go Ministries. For more information on any our ministries here at On The Go, you may send your questions to info@onthego.org.

Healthy Stages of Decision Making

Healthy Stages of Decision Making by Keith Cook

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding but in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your steps." Proverbs 3:5, 6

Each of us are constantly confronted with having to make decisions that can and will affect us for years to come. Making wise and timely decisions is very important for Spirit filled believers. Avoiding making decisions that can hurt not just the individual but also others around them.

Here are several suggestions that may help you as you make important decisions. Always remember that the Holy Spirit and the Word of God is always available to lead and direct you.

1. When you find yourself needing to make a decision it is important to pray and trust God that a proper decision can be made.

2. After you check in with God and are looking at your opportunity with confidence in God's direction then you should be able to list and observe all known options. Look at every one of the options at hand. Brainstorm, be led by the Spirit, relax, and have fun while trusting Jesus to help you as you look to the future.

3. Look at how you emotionally and really feel about the issue. Reflect on each option. Do not get in a hurry, but also do not go so slow as possible to avoid making the decision or letting the decision be made without needing you.

4. Next, get very practical and check out options in light of your priorities, beliefs, and scriptures. This can often help you take options off your list and often can help you see clearly the direction you need to go.

5. Do not be afraid to now pick acceptable options and narrow options to one or two.

6. When you are confident in your choice options and their validity then verbalize your decision and solicit feedback from others who can help with wisdom. It is important that you open up to those who can help you make the decision. Do not confide in everyone but only the appropriate individuals who can really help. Too many voices can shout out God's still small voice.

7. Once you make your decision put all you have into your decision. Your enthusiasm and energy will serve you well. Go out now under the direction of the Holy Spirit and honor Christ by actually doing it. Go for it. Just do it.

8. Do not look back at the nay sayers and short sighted, negative bystanders who want to evaluate your actions from the sideline.

9. Do not be afraid to listen to pro-active participants and those who really want to help you as you move out to implement your decisions.

10. Listen to the Lord and check in with Him concerning every step you make. Do not get the plan and then go off to work the plan without Christ.

I hope this helps you make some great and Godly decisions that you may have been avoiding or needed direction with. God is going to use you in a wonderful way.

Daily Prayer Focus: Pray about making Godly decisions this week. Give Christ every opportunity to guide your decisions.

On The Go Prayer Focus: On The Go's GoCamp ministry that trains believers all over the world how to share their faith.

Thank you for taking the time to pray for this important division of On The Go Ministries. For more information on any our ministries here at On The Go, you may send your questions to info@onthego.org.

The Holiday Spirit

The Holiday Spirit by Keith Cook

"When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was. When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy." Matthew 2:9,10

Do you have the holiday spirit? I do! I am ready for the spirit of the season to settle down on me. What is the holiday spirit?

The holiday spirit is as follows:

1. The ability to smile more than normal.

2. The desire to say hello to most everyone you meet.

3. The uncanny feeling that comes over you when you think about getting someone else something special for the holidays.

4. The stamina that comes to give you super-human strength to do more and get more accomplished than is normally possible.

5. The peaceful contentment that you have concerning your life, future, and opportunities.

6. The desire to see old friends and family.

7. The realization that Jesus really loved you so much that He would trade Heaven for Earth, privilege for pain, and offer you mercy instead or misery.

I hope you now have the holiday spirit. Your holiday spirit is directly related to how well you have experienced His Spirit!

Special note: Rest, relax, have fun, enjoy your time off with friends and family!

Daily Prayer Focus: Praise God for this special time of year where we can celebrate His Love demonstrated by the greatest gift ever received, Jesus Christ!

On The Go Prayer Focus: All the Ministry Partners, Missions, Missionaries that On The Go ministers with. It takes team work to make the dream of reaching the world a reality.

Was Jesus Born Today?

Was Jesus Born Today? by Keith Cook

Was Jesus born today? That is a fair question. The scriptures say that he was not. He was in the beginning. Jesus, the Bible says, was born of Mary also. According to church historians and scientists he was probably born in the spring not December. So this day is not any more anointed than any other but we have chosen to celebrate a wonderful event. This day is to have reflective and spiritual value for what it represents. Jesus, the Son of God, came to Earth, not for a visit, but to die for the sins of all mankind. God became flesh and lived with us. What a story, what a truth.

John 1:1-5
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it.

John 1: 9-14
The true light that gives light to every man was coming into the world. He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him.  He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God. The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

John 3:16-17
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

John 3:36
"He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him."

Daily Prayer Focus:  Pray for boldness and sensitivity as God gives you opportunity today to share Christ with family and friends.

As we Celebrate our Savior's Birthday today, please join with us in also praying for Missionaries and Pastors worldwide who are faithfully sharing the love of Christ. Pray for God to bless them and their families, and to continue to bless and enlarge their ministries.

On The Go Prayer Focus: The Finances of Team as they boldly go out for Jesus Christ. Pray that all their needs will be met at home and for the projects they are working on.

Just One More Day

Just One More Day by Keith Cook

"But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." Matthew 6:33

There is just a one more day till Christmas. Just one more day to shop for that perfect gift for those you love. With so much time there are many who will still wait till the last minute to get their gifts.

Some of the reasons people wait till the last minute to get that special gift:

1. They are afraid if they get a gift early they will see a more perfect gift later and will not be able to get it.

2. They do not have any idea what to get and keep hoping that they will see the perfect gift before they simply get an adequate gift that is not really what the person would want.

3. They can not afford the gift they really want to get so they put off shopping until the last minute hoping to find a way to get it.

4. The present they want to get is not available. They are sold out. In demand. Hard to find. They are hoping to find it somewhere.

5. They are too busy to go out shopping. They will get something soon.

6. They are not into getting gifts for others and will simply get what is available at the last minute if they decide to get someone something or if someone gets them something.

7. They keep putting it off till later because other things keep getting in the way. They have good intentions but the time keeps getting away from them.

In many ways there are many who put off looking into their spiritual lives the same way many avoid Christmas shopping.

1. They are afraid of giving in to God's will for their lives because there is so much time to do what God wants them to do. They want to live a little first. Then they will do it.

2. They are fearful that what they are thinking God is leading them to do is not what He really wants for them.

3. They think what God is asking them to do they can not afford to do. It will cost them too much.

4. They keep looking for God's will but can not understand what He is asking them to do. They simply miss Him because they want to understand the end result before they go on the journey of faith.

5. They are too busy with their own plans and dreams. They neglect Jesus and His call on their lives.

6. They do not think that God speaks to people today. They simply must do their best, be good, and not get caught doing anything bad. They will do something if they have to but not now.

7. Many people want to follow Christ but they keep putting it off. They want to do His will but they are so busy and their lives are so cluttered they keep missing Him.

The call of God and the perfect plan He has for your life is for an appointed time. Take that time. Do not put off following Christ. Do not neglect His will. It will be a great present to present to your Lord. Give Him the real gift He wants this Christmas, you doing His will!

Daily Prayer Focus:  Praise God today for His Great Love, the wonderful gift of Jesus Christ, and for your personal relationship with Him.

On The Go Prayer Focus: The Families of the On The Go staff. Pray for their emotions, finances, safety, wisdom, and spiritual health.

Thank you for taking the time to pray for this important division of On The Go Ministries. For more information on any our ministries here at On The Go, you may send your questions to info@onthego.org.

I Love My Wife

I Love My Wife by Keith Cook

"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails." 1 Corinthians 13:4-8

"For those of you who are not married you are going to have to endure my tribute to the finest young lady in the land. For those of you who are married I am sure you could reflect the same sentiment that I am expressing." Keith

I love my wife and I want to show it, I want her to know it, and I want her to glow because of it.

Love is a fleeting thing in our culture. We say we love a football team, love nachos, love to read, and we love people. But I know that while we love all these things there is a difference in how deep our love is for these things or how committed we are to these things we say we love.

I love nachos but if the chips are stale or the cheese tastes like the can it came out off, I will toss them in the trash as fast as I can. Is that real love? It is a form of love, but aren't you glad your wife loves you more than nachos because sometimes you come in smelling pretty rotten and she still does not kick you out. And I am sure that your wife appreciates your not tossing her out for some of the rank leftovers that occasionally show up on the dinner table the second time around.

I love the Tennessee Titans football team but whenever I am watching a football game and they make a bad play I stand up and holler at the players and coaches with great intensity and fervor shout some very unkind insults and instructions. Is that love? Yes it is - but it is a rather fickle kind of love and I am sure your wife appreciates the fact that you don't stand on the couch yelling and screaming at her when she brings home a pink shirt for you to wear to the company picnic. And I am also sure that on the other hand - you appreciate her not blowing a gasket when you try to fix the sink and end up flooding the whole kitchen in water.

I love to read and will spend hours looking around an old bookstore for the perfect book. I will then start the book, and put it aside and not finish what I have started and quickly move on to a more interesting book. Is that love? Yes it is - but it is not the kind of love you have for your wife and thank the Lord it is not the kind of love she has for you. You both will never grow tired of each other and sit the other aside for a new version or updated copy. What you have is a classic kind of love that never goes out of style.

All of these examples contain love but they are finite and situational love. The kind of love a man and a woman are to have is an infinite kind of love. It is different from the love we have for pizza, feelings, or objects.

Love is even more than erotic or sexual. Some people think that making love is real love but it is not. It is simply one expression of what can happen when two people who love each other are together in the same room. Some people make love without being in love. That form of love is still and always will be a sin to God.

The best kind of love, outside of our love for Christ, is the love we can have with our spouses. It is eternal. It is blessed by God, ordained if you please, by Him. God is behind it, He is sponsoring it, He is recommending it and is guaranteeing it.

Loving your wife in this day and culture is hard because of all the outside forces coming against you. The media, the office, the school, the church, the in-laws, the children all have your love in their cross hairs.

Show some love to your spouse today. No matter what the odds, no matter how long the ties that bind have bound, or how good or bad it has been lately. Your love for them is not a sprint from moment to moment rather it is a steady race that weaves through your lifetime together. It is fun to run together. Just get back in the race and this race is run and won by love!

Daily Prayer Focus: Pray that God will show you specific ways to show your love for your spouse today. If you are not married, ask God to lead you to someone in need of love and encouragement today.

On The Go Prayer Focus: On The Go's World Outreach Center (WOC). This is our main office and training facility. Pray for God to protect the building, guard the mechanical and structural aspects of the facility, and use the facility for maximum eternal benefits.

Slow Down

Slow Down by Keith Cook

"And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child. And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds. But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart. And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them." Luke 2:17-20

These next few days offers each of us the opportunity to slow down and enjoy our families, friends and lives. Take the time to relax and have some fun. Do not let the pressure of gift giving, traveling, and time off drive you to stress and despair. Jesus Christ is the reason for the season. Celebrate. relax, love, live, and slow down and enjoy the gift of hope knowing Christ has given you. Now is the time to reflect on the past and get ready for what God has around the bend. Slow down and prepare for all that lies ahead.

May you have a great holiday season.

Prayer focus for today: Spread the love of Jesus around as you slow down and see what is going on around you.

On The Go Prayer Focus: The follow-up of inquirers who come publicly and make decisions for Christ, write in for materials to grow in Christ, or who visit our website looking for help in following Christ. Pray for local believers, churches, parents, and friends who all will be used of God to nurture each and every one to maturity in Christ.

Why Is Jesus Last At Christmas?

Why Is Jesus Last At Christmas? by Gloria Brandon

"For unto you is born this day, in the city of David, a Savior which is Christ the Lord." Luke 2:11

I was reading a Christmas article in a newsletter recently that blessed my heart. I'd like to summarize it for you. A pastor was telling a group of children about the birth of Christ. He used little plastic dolls to represent the key characters of the Christmas story. One symbolized Mary, another Joseph, another the innkeeper and still others the shepherds and the wise men.

Apparently the pastor was stretching the story out too long for one little boy. He raised his hand and when the pastor acknowledged him, he asked, "Why is the most important One left until last?"

He had a good point. Sometimes we focus so much on the decorating, the shopping, the parties, the concerts, the cleaning, and cooking that we have a tendency to leave the most important One until last.  When do we ever get around to centering on the Guest of honor whose birthday we are celebrating? Let's make this Christmas the most meaningful one ever. It can happen if we put the most important One first, not last.

To have a truly wonderful Christmas regardless of circumstances, remember to put Christ first. After all, He is the reason we celebrate!

Daily Prayer Focus: Lord, help me to share the true meaning of Christmas; the birth of our Savior.

On The Go Prayer Focus: All the local churches, committees, and leaders who will be working with On The Go Ministries and the Keith Cook Team in creative outreach efforts in the United States and around the world.

The Party

The Party by Joan Cook

1 Kings 1:8-10, 26, 32

When King David was very old in age, his son Adonijah decided he would proclaim himself to be King. In order to make this happen, he had to have the help of many influential people in David's kingdom that had been loyal to him. However, Adonijah was not following the Lord, but acted upon his own desire.

Adonijah decided he would throw a huge party and invite everyone who was anyone to this event and they would declare him king. But, he failed to invite the four most dedicated and Godly men of the time knowing they would not go along with his plan, since it was not of God.

Adonijah and his guests were eating and having a great time of celebration, until word came that King David had declared Solomon King! Those who were faithful and loyal to King David were recognized and placed in even greater areas of leadership and authority under Solomon's reign. God blessed them because of their faithfulness!

This time of the year is a time to celebrate! Like Adonijah, many people are celebrating for the wrong reasons. They might be having a grand party with many guests, but are putting themselves in compromising situations and possibly making unwise decisions that are affecting their lives and their witness. Maybe you have not been invited and are feeling a bit down because you feel left out!  But what a great honor to know that you are left out and not invited to a party because the host knows you won't go along with the things that will be happening or because your Godly influence is not wanted at the party! That should make you feel GREAT!

As Christians, we are called to walk not according to what the world thinks, but like Christ! Be encouraged if you have not been invited to a party this season that everyone is attending, yet you know will not please the Lord. How much more should we want the favor of God on our lives than the acceptance of man! He will bless you as you follow Him!

Daily Prayer Focus: Pray that you can walk for Jesus everyday. Abandon the world and embrace the Lord's path for your life.

On The Go Prayer Focus: The "On The Go Daily Internet Devotions". This devotional series is read by hundreds around the World via the internet. "On The Go Daily Internet Devotions" are used to encourage, challenge, and motivate Christians in their daily walk. The Mighty Men

The Mighty Men by Joan Cook

"These be the names of the mighty men whom David had:" 2 Samuel 23:8

Several years ago, I underwent a surgical procedure. I had a lot of time to rest and meditate.  The Lord led me to read 2 Samuel and 1 and 2 Kings. Here are some thoughts I'd like to share with you.

I began reading about King David and his mighty men. David established good council in those around him and he placed strong men in leadership positions of his household, army, and his kingdom. These men who would go to battle and destroy David's enemies, against all odds, were called "mighty men". They were valiant warriors who fought for good! These warriors killed lions with their bare hands, destroyed 800 men at one time, fought off entire armies by themselves. (Of course, they hand the hand of God behind them.)

In looking at these mighty men, I have realized just how important it is for us as Christians to be mighty men of God. Sometimes it is hard to stand and be mighty when we feel feeble and weary. But we have to remember that we have all the power we need behind us. God has provided the resources and the armor as we go into battle, and the plan we need to implement. All we have to do is be obedient. The Lord has called us all, as Christians, to be mighty men and women of God. Don't let the enemy fool you into thinking you are a weak, unimportant part of the body of Christ. With Christ behind, beside, and in front of us, we can become valiant, mighty warriors.

Just as the mighty men of David trained their bodies for battle, so must we train ourselves today! We cannot click our heels and snap our fingers and instantly become strong. There are things we have to do:

1) Read your Bible - to grow in Christ, we have to learn of Him and His ways.

2) Pray - spend time talking to the Lord and listening to Him as He talks to you.

3) Study the word - Get a commentary and begin to study the scriptures

4) Go to Church - Surround yourself with strong Christians who will encourage you

5) Share Jesus with others - begin to share what Christ has done and is doing in your life with those who come in contact with.

Daily Prayer Focus: Pray and ask God to help you become a mighty warrior for Him. If you do your part, He has promised to do His!

On The Go Prayer Focus: The 30 Minute Radio & Podcast Program "On The Go with Keith Cook". This is a weekly program airing over the internet, short wave, and radio stations. Is God Directing You To Do More

Is God Directing You To Do More by Keith Cook and Laurie McTier

Is God calling you to do more for the kingdom of God? You have been blessed by your local church. You have been taught the Word of God with power by wonderful teachers. You have been inspired by tremendous testimonies, yet you consistently sit by and miss blessing after blessing by not getting involved with ministry that matters.

Here at On The Go, we are currently receiving applications for our upcoming GoTeam Projects. We have many openings for young people and adults who want to make an impact in another individual's life by sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. There are ministries all around the globe who have needs for individuals who can take up the cause of Christ also.

God wants each of us to carry out the Great Commission. Projects throughout the United States, Kenya, Uganda, Nigeria, Israel, Peru, Belize, the Ivory Coast, Jamaica, Pakistan, and India all need Spirit filled and God sent volunteers.

While our schedule is updated each week with exciting and new opportunities for service yours can be too. God wants you to get in a proactive mode and adopt a ministry mindset.

We would like to invite you to consider being a part of one of our GoTeam Projects. You may think, "I'm only one person, what difference can I make in someone's life?" Each team member plays a vital and necessary role. Each year God strategically places young people and adults who want to be used by God to share the love of Christ and lead others to a personal relationship with Him.

As we minister it is our goal to be a blessing, but truly we are blessed even more as we see the hand of God working in the lives and hearts of people around the world.

It has been a great joy in our lives to watch as the Gospel is shared through drama, song, puppets, and preaching the Word of God. As we scan the crowd, it is amazing to see the expressions on the faces of individuals as they realize that Jesus died for them, He loves them, and wants to be a part of their lives.

One young man in Africa ran through the market and stopped traffic, just so he could talk with our team. His words still ring loud and clear. "Today when I came to the market, I was lonely, hopeless, and very discouraged. As I stopped to listen to your drama and message, I became convicted that Jesus is the only way. Now, I have hope and a future. I know the love of Jesus, and today I am going home to my family and friends and I am going to tell all of them about the love of Christ and how He can change their life."

Now is a great time to decide to be On The Go for Jesus. With the holidays coming soon you will have ample time to share your desire and solicit prayer and support from friends and family. If you start now it will be easier to finance and get time off to go.

For more information on how you can be involved on one of our GoTeam Projects, call On The Go Ministries at 615-299-0222 or email us at info@onthego.org . We look forward to hearing from you soon.

Daily Payer Focus: Pray for workers to go out and work for Jesus on our short term GoTeam Projects. We still need hundreds of volunteers. Some are needed for one day events and some for several days.

On The Go Prayer Focus: On The Go's Outreach Training Schools (OTS). In our OTS, young people and adults are trained to go to the next level in their service to God. Pray for On The Go as we train believers to make a difference in their generation.

Thank you for taking the time to pray for this important division of On The Go Ministries. For more information on any our ministries here at On The Go, you may send your questions to info@onthego.org.

Ten More Days

Ten More Days by Keith Cook

"I desire to do your will, O my God; your law is within my heart." Psalms 40:8

There are ten more days till Christmas. Only ten more days to shop for that perfect gift for those you love.

3. They cannot afford the gift they really want to get so they put off shopping until the last minute hoping to find a way to get it.

3. They think what God is asking them to do they cannot afford to do. It will cost them too much.

4. They keep looking for God's will but cannot understand what He is asking them to do.

They will do something if they have to, but not now.

7. Many people want to follow Christ but they keep putting it off. They want to do His will but they are so busy and their lives are so cluttered they keep missing Him.

There are only ten days left till Christmas. Go shopping now and avoid the rush. Give in to having fun this Christmas.

The call of God and the perfect plan He has for your life is for an appointed time. Take that time. Do not put off following Christ. Do not neglect His will. It will be a great present to present to your Lord. Give Him the real gift He wants this Christmas, you doing His will!

Daily Prayer Focus: Courage to do God's will.

On The Go Prayer Focus: Those who need to make decisions for Christ as On The Go and the Keith Cook Team shares the Gospel around the world. Pray that they will hear a clear message about Christ, that the Holy Spirit will move them to a point of decision and that they will be bold enough to publicly respond for Christ.

Christmas Times A Comin'

Christmas Times A Comin' by Keith Cook

"For the grave cannot praise thee, death cannot celebrate thee..." Isaiah 38:18

The holidays are a time of joy for many and dread for some. Some people actually dislike holidays because they remind them of failures and problems in their lives. Because of having to connect with inlaws and family for holidays there is great pressure on husbands and wives. There are explosions of divorce, separations, remarriages, and added pressure on the children in today's society. When you add the occasional tragedies that hit us all, as well as unreal gift expectations, the holidays can be very traumatic to many households.

What can we do as Christians to help?

1. Pray for wisdom for your own plans and activities.

2. Pray for others who are going through problems or have been hit with hard times during the past few years.

3. Watch for danger signs in individual's lives. Things like sad expressions, depression, crying, worry, frantic behavior, avoiding responsibilities, excessive spending, moodiness, and anger.

4. Be available to visit, talk, share, go out with, or even just shop with those in need.

5. Take time to take care of your shopping, travel plans, family arrangements, and needs as early as possible so you can be available to relax and have fun during the holidays.

With these five things in mind you can be well prepared to celebrate because, "Christmas Times A Comin'!"

Daily Prayer Focus: Pray for those going through tough times. Ask God to give you insight to make the holidays fun and rewarding for all.

On The Go Prayer Focus: Keith Cook's Hands-On-Training Events. This is our Outreach Training School on the road. Keith and the On The Go Team share all across the USA and Worldwide in fun and creative ways that people can serve Jesus and make an impact in this generation!

Join In

Join In by Keith Cook

"He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock." Luke 6:48

In a report released by the National Study of Youth and Religion it was determined that Youth Group Involvement Develops Higher Self-esteem.

In the study they found that regular religious service attendance, the importance of faith and years spent in religious youth groups are clearly associated with high self-esteem and positive self-attitudes.

U.S. High school seniors who participated in youth groups for any number of years are significantly more likely to:

1. Feel good to be alive

2. Enjoy school

Those who do not attend religious services are more likely to not feel good to be alive and not to enjoy school.

12th graders who participated for at least six years in Christian youth groups are more likely to have:

1. Positive attitudes toward themselves

2. Feel that they have something to be proud of in life

Those who had never participated in youth groups usually have negative attitudes about themselves and do not have many areas of their lives to be proud of.

Most young people feel lost, lonely, and alone at school. Most schools are so big and seem unfriendly.

Retreats, Sunday School, Parties with Christian teens, Trips to fun places with Christian peers, and Youth Mission Projects all help youth build a sense of community.

Encourage your teens, or if you are a teen, get involved with your local youth group. If they or you join in now it will help now and in the future.

Daily Prayer Focus: Pray for teens all around your neighborhood that they can connect with other Christian youth and have a place to grow and express themselves.

On The Go Prayer Focus: On The Go Publications & Media Team. We are striving to saturate and minister to a contemporary culture and society through modern media. This division includes our audio, video, internet, and written materials. Through these various ministries we reach out, train, and inspire Christians to action.

Thank you for taking the time to pray for this important division of On The Go Ministries. For more information on any our ministries here at On The Go, you may send your questions to info@onthego.org.

Have A Full Heart part 4 of 4

Have A Full Heart part 4 of 4 by Keith Cook

Here are some final thoughts on "Helps for Following Christ."

"The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe." John 1:7

You can grow as a Christian by doing the following things on a regular basis! While these four expressions of a full heart are vital they are not all God has for you to do. But they are a great foundation.

We have looked at the first three expression of a Full Heart: Prayer, Bible Study, and Fellowship. Today let us examine the final, Sharing Your Faith.

4. Sharing Your Faith - This is simply telling others what Jesus has done for you!

Sharing one's faith requires:

a. Trusting the Holy Spirit for Boldness.

"But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth." Acts 1:8

b. Being ready and prepared to share.

"But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:" 1 Peter 3:15

c. Looking for God-given opportunities.

"And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men." Matthew 4:19

d. Living a life that is consistent with the message you're sharing.

"I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." Romans 12:1,2

The good news is what Jesus has done for you and what He wants to do for the one you are sharing with. Share your faith in Christ so others can come to know Him.

Daily Prayer Focus: Pray for an opportunity to share your faith with someone today. Let the Holy Spirit guide you.

On The Go Prayer Focus: On The Go's Neighborhood Outreach Program. In reality, very little is being done to reach people in many communities across the USA. On The Go is striving to train local Christians and help them develop programs that can systematically and permanently reach real needs in their neighborhoods.

Thank you for taking the time to pray for this important division of On The Go Ministries. For more information on any our ministries here at On The Go, you may send your questions to info@onthego.org.

Have A Full Heart part 3 of 4

Have A Full Heart part 3 of 4 by Keith Cook

Here are some "Helps for Following Christ".

"Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching." Hebrews 10:25

This week we have been studying How to Have A Full Heart. You can grow as a Christian by doing the following things on a regular basis! While these four expressions of a Full Heart are vital they are not all God has for you to do. But they are a great foundation.

We have looked at the first two expressions of a full heart, Prayer and Bible Study. Today let us examine the third, Fellowship.

3. Fellowship at a Local Church - When you become a Christian you also become a part of the "Body of Christ," which is called "the Church".

Faithfulness to a local church helps you:

a. Develop your spiritual gifts.

"For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another. Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith; Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching; Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness." Romans 13:4-8

b. Worship and Praise the Lord.

"God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth." John 4:24

c. Learn what the Bible really teaches.

"And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love." Ephesians 4:11-16

d. Be encouraged and helped by other believers.

"And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching." Hebrews 10:24,25

Deciding to be faithful to a local church takes real commitment. In today's world of instant everything and "What is in it for me" philosophy, it is hard to see a church as an institution that actually needs you. But the local church does need you.

Do not neglect being with God's people on a regular basis. Many people get in trouble in life because they have no authorities in their lives and they have do not have a system of checks and balances. A local church, pastor, or prayer partner can help you make a real impact with your life and help you stay the course in representing Christ to the nations.

Yes there are many hypocrites at many churches but there are also many saints, Godly people who love God and are trying to follow His leading. Forgive those who have wronged you and go back to church. God will bless you as you bless Him in praise, worship, giving, sharing, and in growing at a local church.

Tomorrow we will look at the final area of a full heart, Sharing Your Faith!

Daily Prayer Focus: Take time to fellowship with another believer in Christ today. Take a few extra minutes to talk with, pray with, or study with another Christian. Why not call and encourage a Christian minister today. Let them know how much they mean to you, and pray for them specifically.

On The Go Prayer Focus: On The Go's GoKids Clubs. The focus of GoKids Clubs is to present a clear Gospel message to young children in our festivals, missions, and local neighborhoods. Pray for On The Go as we minister to boys and girls and share with them the love of Jesus Christ.

Thank you for taking the time to pray for this important division of On The Go Ministries. For more information on any our ministries here at On The Go, you may send your questions to info@onthego.org.

Have A Full Heart part 2 of 4

Have A Full Heart part 2 of 4 by Keith Cook

Here are some Helps for Following Christ

"Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." 2 Timothy 2:15

You can grow as a Christian by doing the following things on a regular basis! While these four expressions of a Full Heart are vital they are not all God has for you to do. But they are a great foundation.

Yesterday we looked at the first expression of a full heart, Prayer. Today let us examine the second, Bible Study.

2. Bible Study - There are many ways study the word of God.

Some have daily devotions, where they take a few minutes each day to look at a passage from the Bible and be inspired by it. They often read a comment or insight from a famous or scholarly Christian that reflects the meaning of the passage. You are reading one of On The Go's daily devotions today. These devotions are not designed to take the place of real Bible Study.

Many people study the Bible by going to Bible Study classes. Some of these are at church and many others are in homes or fun settings. There are men's study groups, women's, youth, athletes, businessmen, and on and on. I used to hold Bible studies for Rodeo Cowboys. It was so much fun. They even talked me into having a Christian Rodeo. Only problem was we could not find a Christian bull! Bible study groups help you stay focused and keep you involved for a longer period of time because there is accountability.

In my opinion, the best way to study the Bible is to get a good study Bible and set aside a time when you can spend 30 minutes to an hour to just read and reflect on what you are reading. This is so important. I suggest you track your reading with a simple notebook where you keep up with the date, passages read, personal observations and notes. Keep your reading plan simple but dig deep as you actually study. Do not be afraid of asking questions to pastors and Bible teachers that are based on what you are reading and studying. A good Bible commentary is also helpful BUT never read the commentary first. Always let God speak to you first. Let Him direct you to what He is saying to you before you see what He has said to others.

Studying the Word of God provides:

a. Wisdom to live the Christian life. (James 1:5)
b. A standard that is solid and secure. (Isaiah 40:8)

Let me encourage you to study God's word. It will give you wisdom beyond your normal capacity. You will gain insights you cannot find anywhere else.

Tomorrow we will look at the next area of a full heart, Fellowship!

Daily Prayer Focus: Take time to read your Bible today. Take a few extra minutes to dig deep into the word of God. Pray that God will give you divine insights into His Word.

On The Go Prayer Focus: The "On The Go Daily" 2 Minute Radio & Podcast Program. This is a daily program airing across the United States, and World via the internet and radio stations. "On The Go Daily" is used to encourage, challenge, and motivate Christians in their daily walk. Pray for Keith, Joan, the On The Go Staff, and special guests as they share on these 2 minute broadcasts. You can hear these programs via our website if it is not available in your area.

Have A Full Heart part 1 of 4

Have A Full Heart part 1 of 4 by Keith Cook

"Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much." James 5:16

Here are some "Helps for Following Christ"

You can grow as a Christian by doing the following things on a regular basis! While these four expressions of a Full Heart are vital they are not all God has for you to do but they are a great foundation.

Today let's look at the first expression of a full heart.

1. It is prayer - Prayer is simply talking to God.

In prayer you can tell God all your dreams, fears, hopes, and situations. He is eager and willing to listen. He already knows all you have faced and all that will come. He can handle your conversation. It will not be a surprise to Him.

In prayer you:

a. Confess your sins. Name them one by one. Get clean. Confess them. Get them out of your life.

b. Ask His blessings. Do not be ashamed to tell Him your heart's desire.

c. Praise Him and thank Him for His goodness. He is worthy of our praise. Talk with Him about how much you love Him and thank Him for all He does for you and mankind.

Tomorrow we will look at the next area of a full heart, Bible Study!

Daily Prayer Focus: Talk to God in prayer today. Take a few extra minutes and confess, ask, and praise Him.

On The Go Prayer Focus: On The Go's "Adopt An Evangelist" program. This program provides funding and support for various missions and evangelists around the world.

Thank you for taking the time to pray for this important division of On The Go Ministries. For more information on any our ministries here at On The Go, you may send your questions to info@onthego.org.

Trail Of Good Or Bad

Trail Of Good Or Bad by Keith Cook

"Out of the same mouth proceeds blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not so to be." James 3:10

"Blessed is he who devotes his life to great and noble ends, and who forms his well-considered plans with deliberate wisdom." Saint Augustine

Recently a former Russian spy died from radiation poisoning. His killers left a trail of radiation all over London. This trail of radiation went to over twelve different locations varying from the places they ate, the places they stayed, and even several airplanes they traveled on. The authorities are actually traveling down a path of death and destruction based on radiation levels. It has been reported that the murderers may have contaminated 33,000 people.

As a Christian, we leave a trail behind us as well. The trail should lead people to Christ. Our path should be strait and true, void of needless detours into selfish and worldly affairs.

Wherever we go we are to leave behind blessings, not curses, life, not death. You can leave behind blessings by speaking kindly to all you meet. You can also speak encouragement and faith into people's lives. Your actual words can bring hope or douse faith. There is power in our words. What are you leaving behind you? Are you spewing poison, or showering blessings? The choice is yours.

Here are some simple things for you to focus on today:

1. Commit to spreading the Good news.

2. Devote your life to service to the King of Kings.

3. Plan on demonstrating your faith and commitment to Christ in every area of our life.

4. Expect God to lead you and provide for you as you serve Him. Make great plans, dream great dreams, and do great deeds for Jesus.

Daily Prayer Focus: Pray that you will be a blessing to each of those you come in contact with today. Pray that your life will portray Christ, and shower others with life, joy, and encouragement.

On The Go Prayer Focus: The Development Ministries of On The Go. This ministry team helps On The Go stay on the go! Many individuals want to make an investment in eternity through On The Go Ministries. Through their wills, trusts, monthly electronic funds transfers, donations of stocks, and planned giving they do just that. Friendship Goals

Friendship Goals by Keith Cook

"A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother." Proverbs 18:24

Today let your goal be to make some new friends for Christ's sake. In making friends and helping them come to Christ you may want to consider some things you may want to do. It is really quite simple.

You need to Stop - Stop what you are doing and take time to make a friend and actually try to see their personal needs.

You need to Look - Look for open doors to share your faith with them in a natural and relaxed way. Never force the issue of your faith.

You need to Listen - Listen to the Holy Spirit and listen to what you hear your new friend saying about their life, dreams, goals, and situations.

With these three things in mind you can make friends not just here but for eternity.

Daily Prayer Focus: Pray that God will allow you to make friends for Jesus today.

On The Go Prayer Focus: On The Go's GoCare ministry. This is our acts of kindness and benevolence ministry department. The focus of our GoCare ministry is to reach out to physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of hurting individuals and to build bridges between churches and their communities.

Mom's Example

Mom's Example by Joan Cook

"Thy word have I hid in my heart that I may not sin against thee" Psalms 119:11

I love to memorize scripture! Unfortunately, I haven't memorized very much at all. Quite a few years ago, when my son, Keith Jr. was about eight years old, I remember trying to memorize Ephesians 6 where it talks about the armor of God. I would quote these verses over and over trying to remember them. During the week, Keith and I were at a camp speaking to young people, and during the invitation, I remember a teenage boy coming to the altar. As I moved forward to counsel with him, he told me of the difficulty he had been having saying no to peer pressure.

Before I could say a word, my eight year old son had slipped in the middle of our conversation and now had his hand on the teenager's back. He quickly said, "You have to put on the full armor of God so that you can stand against the schemes of the devil. our struggle is not against flesh and blood." I was amazed! Keith Jr. had been listening to me and had learned the scripture by hearing me quote it over and over again.

Our children want to be like Mom and Dad. They listen to everything we say and watch everything we do. What kind of an example are you setting for your children? No matter if they are eight or eighteen...they are watching you!  As they watch you, point the way to Jesus so they can see their heavenly Father!

Daily Prayer Focus: Pray that today you might be a godly example to your family, your peers, and everyone you encounter.

On The Go Prayer Focus: On The Go Ministry Supporters. It takes teamwork to make the dream work! Our ministry supporters have made commitments to play a vital part of our team through praying, sharing, caring, going, and growing.

Thank you for taking the time to pray for this important division of On The Go Ministries. For more information on any our ministries here at On The Go, you may send your questions to info@onthego.org.

How To Help Children Grow Up Healthy

How To Help Children Grow Up Healthy by Keith Cook

"Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it." Proverbs 22:6

This is the exact formula of what youth and children need from adults!

If you are around teens and children you have a responsibility to serve as a mentor to them. You can be used by Jesus to help lead them as they grow up. Some of your leading and mentoring will be done by example and some by direct teachable moments.

These teachable moments come when God provides for them. They often sound like this: "Dad, why does...", "Mom, did you ever...", "Keith, does God really say that...is bad", "I have this friend who...".

Children and teens need the following:

1. Acceptance - They need to know that you accept them and think they are worth the effort.

2. Discipline - They need to know that you expect them to live by God's standard and your rules.

3. Independence - They need to know that you will allow them to be unique and that you trust them to God.

4. Love - They need to know that you love them even if you do not agree with them or they have done things that are wrong.

5. Expression - They need to know that you will let them share and join in the process of ministry.

When a teen or child expresses concerns or solutions to problems it is imperative to:

1. Listen to what they are saying. Really listen.

2. State what we think they are saying back to them. This will help especially in this day and age when youth give new meanings to common words.

3. Make sure you really value what they have said.

4. If you can, use what they have said to help in real situations and give them credit for helping solve them.

5. Say "thank you",  "I was wrong",  "You were right",  and "I am sorry" as often as possible.

Daily Prayer Focus: Pray that you can help those who are looking at you for wisdom and direction.

On The Go Prayer Focus: The GoTeam Short Term Missions Projects and GoTeam Members. GoTeams are made up of young people and adults who voluntarily go on an On The Go mission project around the world and are making a strategic impact for Christ.
