Signs You May Be Straying Close to the Judgement Line by Keith Cook Sr.

"Therefore, a lion from the forest will strike them down. A wolf from an arid plain will ravage them. A leopard keeps watch over their cities. Anyone who leaves them will be torn to pieces because their rebellious acts are many, their unfaithful deeds numerous. Why should I forgive you? Your children have abandoned Me and sworn by those who are not gods. I satisfied their needs, yet they committed adultery ... Should I not avenge Myself on such a nation as this? ... Prune away her shoots, for they do not belong to the LORD." Jeremiah 5:6-10 (HCSB)

Today's devotion is based on reflections drawn recently as I read Jeremiah 5:6-10. God's Word is powerful, sharper than a two-edged sword. This passage written by the prophet Jeremiah is a word to our generation to which we must take notice. Please prayerfully take an inventory of your Christian walk. Are you Staying Close to God or Straying close to the Judgement Line?

1. If your sins are many - you may be straying close to the judgement line. (these are outward transgressions)

2. If you rebel against the Lord's authority over your life, the Word of God, and or His precepts or standards - you may be straying close to the judgement line.

3. If you have turned away from worshiping God in your youth or do not worship Him now - you may be straying close to the judgement line.

4. If you take the blessings of God for granted - you may be straying close to the judgement line.

5. If you live the life He gives with self at the center and not God - you may be straying close to the judgement line.

6. If you live for simply doing what you please and what makes you happy and not God's will - you may be straying close to the judgement line

7. According to the Word of God, no matter what you say, believe, or think - if you are straying close to the judgement line in any of the ways above and do not repent and get back to living out the Gospel in your everyday life "they (you) are not the Lords!"

Today, instead of straying, try staying - staying true to what you know God says for you to do and how He says to live. Stay focused on doing the work of the Lord as He leads and stay hungry for His Word and Presence.

Daily Prayer Focus: Pray that you will remain Focused and Hungry for God's Word and His Presence.
