Called to Pray - National Day of Prayer

Called to Pray - National Day of Prayer by the Staff of On The Go and the Presidential Prayer Team

The Staff at On The Go Ministries, the Presidential Prayer Team, and the National Day of Prayer Task Force would like to invite you to join us in celebrating the "National Day of Prayer"!

"Love one another. Just as I have loved you." John 13:34

"if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land." 2 Chronicles 7:14

Today is the day set aside as the National Day of Prayer across America. Prayer is a powerful weapon. Prayer can break through strongholds, which have stood firm for years. God wants His Children to become mighty, active prayer warriors! The National Day of Prayer theme this year is Love One Another. The mission of the National Day of Prayer is mobilizes unified public prayer for America.

The National Day of Prayer has a rich history, dating from the first declaration of a day of prayer and fasting that was implemented by George Washington to President Lincoln's call for prayer and fasting during the Civil War to the modern-day declaration signed into law by President Harry Truman in 1952.

Prayer is an opportunity to humbly come before God and confess all sins and to praise God for His mighty works, His gift of freedom, His mercy, and His boundless love. Through prayer, we recognize the limits of earthly power and acknowledge the sovereignty of God. Prayer leads to humility and a grateful heart, and it turns our minds to the needs of others.

As our nation looks to the future, the need for prayer remains high. This year the National Day of Prayer Task Force has chosen Five Centers of Influence to help us stay focused and intentional as we pray for America to Love One Another.

Select Prayer Focus:

Use this list to guide and direct your prayer time. As you pray for the individuals listed, pray that they will be given godly wisdom and guidance, great strength and divine protection in the key positions they hold. Remember, especially, our troops who safeguard freedom overseas.

1.  Pray for America to Love One Another. "Love One Another. Just as I have loved you." John 13:34 Jesus tells us to love one another just like He loves us. This includes every person in America as well as every person in the world. Jesus wants us to love every person sacrificially...Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to empower us to do the things that only God can do through us.

2.  Pray for the Church in America to Love One Another. "By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another." John 13:35 Jesus is telling His disciples, His Church, that the distinctive mark that sets us apart from everyone else is only one thing: Love for One Another. Call upon God for the 300,000 churches in America to love one another and to cooperate together when possible for the greater purpose of praying for America.

3.  Pray for Families, Workplaces, Communities, and Cities in America to Love One Another. "Dear friends let us love one another, because love is from God and everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God." 1 John 4:7 When we belong to Jesus, we belong to love; therefore call upon God for the families, workplaces, communities, and cities in America to know that love is always God's way. Pray that each entity will look to God, who is love, so they can experience the transforming power of love. Ask God to raise up a Love One Another Movement across America.

4.  Pray for All Ethnicities and People in America to Love One Another. "Love finds no joy in unrighteousness but rejoices in the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends." 1 Corinthians 13:6-8 Since the love of God is built on God's truth and we are made in the image of God, all humans are of one race; therefore, loving one another is not optional because love never ends. Ask God to give us the power to repent of anything in our past and choose a new future together where love will not just bind up our nation's wounds, but the transforming love will lead to the day when justice will roll down like waters and righteousness like a mighty stream.

5.  Pray we will love God and each other so much that we will agree clearly, unite visibly, and pray extraordinarily for the next Great Spiritual Awakening in America. "Besides this, since you know the time, it is already the hour for you to wake up from sleep, because now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed." Romans 13:11 Knowing we are living in a significant movement in history, now is the time for each follower of Christ to wake up in our spiritual lives, knowing our greatest need and hope in America is the next Great Spiritual Awakening. Call upon the Sovereign God of Heaven to shape the future of America mightily through the next Great Spiritual Awakening, just as He did in history.

Suggested  Prayer for The National Day of Prayer

ALMIGHTY GOD, our Heavenly Father, we look to You alone for the future of America. By Your providence, You have placed each of us here at this time in history to be in this nation. Thank You for this blessing. Thank You for America.

BUT ABOVE ALL, we thank You for the gift of Your Son, Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God. It is in His name, we come to You as we intercede in prayer for America.

FORGIVE US, OH LORD, for the sins we have committed against You in America. We are failing You by dishonoring one another through our harsh and bitter words about each other. We are failing You through broken relationships. We are failing You by devaluing human life from conception until death. We are failing You with the division in our nation.

LORD, WE TURN FROM these sinful actions and refuse to live this way. Please forgive us now and help us to choose love over hate, unity over division, and life over death.

WE CHOOSE to live by Jesus' words: Love One Another. Therefore, upon the authority of Your Word in John 13:34, "Love one another. Just as I have loved you," we pray for a future America that will choose to love willfully, sacrificially, and unconditionally just like Jesus loves us.

WE PRAY FOR THE CHURCH in America to love one another. Empower each church to be full of love for one another. Ignite a revival of love for one another. Since we are to be known by our love, help us to love one another.

WE PRAY FOR EVERY FAMILY, EVERY WORKPLACE, EVERY COMMUNITY, AND EVERY CITY IN AMERICA to choose love. We believe there is power in love. We believe love is the better way. We believe love is God's Way. Oh Lord, change families, workplaces, communities, and cities through the power of love. Raise up a Love One Another movement across America.

WE PRAY FOR ALL ETHNICITIES AND PEOPLE IN AMERICA to love one another. Lord, tear down every wall of division and change any attitude that divides us today. Bind up our nation's wounds and may the transforming love of God lead us to the day when justice will roll down like waters and righteousness like a mighty stream.

WE PRAY FOR YOUR LOVE to surround America. We pray for Your love to surround and protect us in every public setting and private place. Protect us from harm.

WE BELIEVE ALL OF THESE THINGS, OH LORD, represent our deep need for the next great move of God across America. We ask You alone for the next Great Spiritual Awakening in America. Please, oh God, wake up Your church and revive Your people today. We ask You to begin a mighty spiritual awakening in every town, every city, and every county in America.

WE NEED AND DESIRE THIS SO MUCH, THAT BEGINNING RIGHT NOW, we are choosing love and forgiveness, love and restitution, love and healing, love and unity, and a future that will be transformed by the power of unconditional love. When we belong to You, we belong to love. We choose to Love One Another!

IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST, the only Savior and Hope in this world we pray. Amen.
